What We’re Talking About – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

It looks like the Grand Floridian may be seeing some changes, in regards to their Disney Vacation Club availability.

A head’s up! At the beginning of next year, the Disney Skyliner will be close for a brief refurbishment.

If you’re visiting Walt Disney World soon, you’ll be able to do something unique with Snapchat filters! For example, have you ever wanted to take a photo with Mickey Mouse, even when he’s not around? Or wouldn’t it be cool if you could make Cinderella Castle appear with all your family photos? New Snap lenses will make it possible. Jennifer shares her thoughts:

I think this is the money quote here: Integrating exclusive Snap lenses and AR into the parks can also help Disney bond with younger guests, creating a connection that can turn them into life long consumers.
Kids and teens today have a lot more opportunities for entertainment without leaving their sofas.  To compete for those future dollars, Disney needs to use tech that is already established in this demographic to create an emotional attachment to the experience of physically being in the parks.

Congrats to Len and Jim’s Disney Dish for making the list of the 10 Best Disney Podcasts from Screen Rant. (Also, I humbly mention a huge thanks because I may be pretty familiar with another podcast that’s listed as #3 on that breakdown.)

It’s well known that SNL and Disney seem to go hand in hand a lot….and this week they had a skit that had me rolling that was simply titled The Muppet Show.

Look….I’m a little skeptical because I really do love the first movie, but Hocus Pocus 2 is officially coming out in 2022. I’m so cautiously optimistic….and I hope it will be good. But I’m excited that Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy are all returning.

Laurel has a differing opinion than me though. Which camp do you fall in? She says: I saw that one on Twitter and my reaction is that if there was ever a generational line in the sand between Gen X and you kids, it’s the love of that movie. I JUST DON’T GET IT. Get off my lawn.

Are you anxiously awaiting the upcoming Monsters Inc series for Disney+ called Monsters At Work? This week, we got to see a preview! What do you think of it?

Julia shares: By far, my favorite Pixar short is Mike’s New Car, so I’m all in on this series. D+ continues to be an amazing value for me (oh, and the rest of the family too).

Universal Orlando’s going to offer a brand new location to meet some of your favorite DreamWorks characters with their DreamWorks Destination.

Joe thinks: This will be a cute diversion for families to balance out the giant scary dinosaur coaster opening next door.
