Why Should You Use the Disney Bus System?

Let’s face it, sometimes the transportation on your Walt Disney World vacation can be an unwelcome stressor, especially if you’re unfamiliar with how the resort transportation operates. One of the most popular and resort-wide free transportation options at Walt Disney World is the bus system.

The bus system operates out of each on-property resort, including Shades of Green. The buses shuttle guests to and from resorts to each of the four theme parks, as well as Disney Springs. Usually bus transportation is offered from park to park, and from park to Disney Springs, during the afternoon hours as well.

The main question is, why should you use Disney buses?

While there’s no answer that will fit everyone’s needs perfectly, the buses are a fantastic option for travel around the resort.

Buses depart from every resort at around twenty-minute intervals from a designated bus stop. A few of the larger resorts have multiple bus stops for guest convenience. The bus stop is usually in an easy-to-find location, and the Cast Members at each resort can easily direct you to them.

The bus system is a cost-friendly option. If you or your family is driving to Walt Disney World, using the Disney buses is a way to save money on gas. The bus fleet also helps reduce carbon emissions, using renewable and alternative fuel options, in addition to minimizing the amount of drivers on the road. This also keeps the Walt Disney World roadways a little bit safer, because a few of the intersections can be confusing, and navigating the Walt Disney World resort, even with a GPS system, can be a challenge!

One big way the buses are the best option, in my opinion, is keeping the magic alive. Once you are at Walt Disney World, you can leave your car behind in the parking lot, and just let Disney do the driving. You and your party can arrive at the bus stop in the morning–buses begin departing 45 minutes before park opening–and board a bus. The Disney buses are fully outfitted with wheelchair accessible seating, and are completely distanced in compliance with COVID-19 regulations. Then just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Usually, there’s a spiel on the buses that gives some information about the park, and before long, the buses will drop you off far closer to the entrance to the park than the parking lots, allowing you to head in and begin your day filled with magic.

Then, when you’ve had a day filled with magic, and you and your party are ready to head back to the hotel, you can board a bus and let them do the driving. Bus service runs continually up until 1 hour after park close.

The Disney bus fleet is a great, cost-effective way to get from your resort to the parks, and then back again. You and your party don’t have to worry about navigation, or gas, or getting the kids into their carseats again, but you can simply find your seats on the bus, and you’ll soon arrive close to the park entrance, almost like magic.
