Win Len’s Lightsaber!

When an epic land like Galaxy’s Edge opens, it calls for an epic giveaway. You may have seen the video of our own Len Testa as he made his own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop in Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. If you haven’t, you can see the video here.

And now it is time to announce how YOU can win this very lightsaber.

Galaxy’s Edge has many things–but one thing it doesn’t have are caricature artists. That’s where you can come into play, because there’s nothing that Len would like more than to see what he would look like as an actual Jedi.

Bring out your pen and paper, paints, macaroni art, computer software, Sculpey clay, hand-carved marble — you name it. The form of this art doesn’t matter, but put together a piece of art showing Len as a Jedi and you could get the chance to win this lightsaber. Here are the important rules:

Artwork can be in any medium (including digital artwork) but must contain Len Testa dressed as a Jedi and must contain the TouringPlans logo within the image. All entries must be appropriate for a family audience.

To enter, you must follow us on one or both of our social media channels:

Instagram: @touringplans

Twitter: @touringplans

Submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 30, 2019, by tagging us @TouringPlans on our social media handles with a photograph/image of your artwork. No late entries will be considered.

By submitting, you certify that the artwork is your own, original work and that artwork may be used by TouringPlans for social media and promotional outlets. Because the minimum age for a Twitter or Instagram account is 13, all entrants must be 13 years or older and posting from their own personal social media account (i.e., no posting artwork for a friend, relative, neighbor, or your pet).

Artwork will be judged by a panel of four TouringPlans staff members (Len, Guy, Brian, Angela) on four criteria:
1. Required elements (stated above).
2. Artistic merit.
3. Originality.
4. Most evidence of the Force from the artist.

Winner will be announced no later than July 15, 2019. Winner must provide a U.S. postal mailing address to receive the grand prize: A lightsaber created at Savi’s Workshop at Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge. Shipping outside the U.S. is not available.

No purchase necessary. Contest void where prohibited by law.

We can’t wait to see what creative works you come up with!

  • Added to my star wars collection and yesterday was my birthday it would be a birthday present to me

  • Few of questions:
    1) can we get a few headshots of Len? Scowling, neutral, and smiling would be great (images and video are too low res). Nothing crazy, just something to work with since we’re to use his likeness.
    2) can we also get a few high res photos of the lightsaber?
    3) bigger version of the logo?
    4) you going to announce this at all on the forums?

    • Seriously, are you a full on artist, I’m trying my hardest but I probably won’t win to you

      • Keep in mind, our official TouringPlans artist is Derek — which proves that when it comes to artistic skill, we’re “flexible” (and why we only made it 25% of the criteria).

I don’t get a vote, but if someone did a Close Encounters of the Third Kind mashed potato sculpture, I’d be lobbying hard for that to be a winner!

      • Thank ya for the comment, but post what ya got anyway! 🙂

Julia said it was only 25% of the competition but I think that’s being very generous. In competitions like this, normally it’s all about the enthusiasm and effort and the “art” is just the vehicle for that. No one wants to see someone just whip out a piece that took them 2 minutes and have no effort at all displayed and be done with it. So as long as you put in some serious effort and had fun doing your piece, I’m pretty sure you’ll be strongly considered.

(Truthfully, I’m worried my entry doesn’t even communicate this. Regardless that it took many hours. Photo-manips are often deceptive in how much work is put into them.)

So yeah, don’t worry about the technical skill side of it, have fun with it and post anyway! What’s the worst that’s going to happen?

  • HAHAHAH Guy Selga’s video is gold!!
