Description And Comments

Cranium Command is Epcot's great sleeper attraction. Stuck on the backside of the Wonders of Life pavilion and far less promoted than Body Wars, this humorous Epcot offering is bypassed by many guests. Characters called "Brain Pilots" are trained to operate human brains. The show consists of a day in the life of one of these Cranium Commanders as he tries to pilot the brain of an adolescent boy. Epcot and Walt Disney World could use a lot more of this type of humor.

Touring Tips

To understand the program, you need to see the pre-show cartoon. If you arrive in the waiting area while it's in progress, be sure you see enough to get a sense of the story before you enter the theater. While most preschoolers enjoy Cranium Command, many don't really understand it.

THE MAKING OF A WINNER

Disney was so impressed with the job that then-fledgling animation directors Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale did with Cranium Command's pre-show cartoon that they were offered a chance to direct the 1991 hit, Beauty and the Beast, the first animated film ever nominated for a "Best Picture" Academy Award.
