U.S. Department of State

Description And Comments

You can’t help but notice the massive U.S. Department of State building, which takes up all the area between 21st and 23rd Streets and C and D Streets. The Harry S. Truman building is the central hub for all American foreign relations and diplomatic missions. Contained inside are the luxurious Diplomatic Reception Rooms – rooms where dignitaries meet, converse, and occasionally sign treaties. Tours are available of the Reception Rooms, but they must be made in advance (up to 90 days) at the State Department website. Tours are available Monday through Friday at 9:30 am, 10:30 am, and 2:45 pm.
