Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2014

Part 1 - Planning before You Leave

Page 35 - The URL for WDWMagic forums is misspelled. It should be forums.wdwmagic.com.

Page 35 - Under Selecting the Time of Year for your Visit, we refer to the "Walk Disney World Marathon." This is a misspelling, not a pun, and should read Walt Disney World Marathon.

Page 61 - In the chart showing the breakdown of costs for a day a Walt Disney World, there is a misprint. The per day ticket price for "Agnes" is $70.08, not the adult price that is shown. The addition for the whole day is correct at $292.47.

Part 3 - Accomodations

Page 136 - With the addition of MyDisneyExperience, the window for online onsite hotel check-in has extended to 60 days from the prior window of 10 days.

Page 150 - Contemporary Strengths and Weakness Chart - The Contemporary no longer has on site childcare. The closest on site care is Neverland Club at the Polynesian.

Page 150 - First sentence of the last paragraph should read "The Contemporary's rooms, in our opinion, are among the nicest of any Disney resort."

Page 196 - First reader quote (continued from previous page) refers to frozen Cokes, which are no longer offered in the food court.

Page 304 - The teen club on all ships is now called Vibe.

Page 368 - BabyCakes, NYC is no longer operating at Downtown Disney due to ongoing Disney Springs construction. Their gluten-free, vegan baked goods can be found at most WDW resort food courts (in the refrigerated cases) and at Animal Kingdom park at Gardens kiosk.

Pages 365 - 370 - Please read our blog articles on the Disney Accessibility System here and here.

Part 8 - Arriving and Getting Around

Page 385 - The cost to park at Disney theme parks is now $17 (no charge for onsite resort guests and most annual pass holders).

Page 385 - Point 5 concerning arriving early at Disney's Animal Kingdom is no longer accurate. Guests who drive their own cars may enter the parking lot in time for rope drop.

Part 10 - Dining

Page 426 - Point 3 - We state that an automatic 18% gratuity is added to all checks at full service restaurants. This is incorrect. Only parties of 6 or more (or using the Tables in Wonderland card) get the automatic gratuity added.

Part 11 - Magic Kingdom

Page 501 - Unofficial Tip. - new - If you arrive at the TTC to find long lines at the Express Monorail, check out the Resort line, which may have a much shorter wait despite the 2 extra stops it makes. If taking the monorail the Contemporary is a highlight of your monorail experience, you'll need to stick with the Express line, as the Resort line goes in the other direction.
Page 501 - Stroller rentals are under the train station; *ECV/wheelchair rentals are on the far right by the lockers*
Page 501 - Unofficial Tip - correction - get park map inside the tunnels, not at turnstiles.
Page 506 -

Page 516 - Reader quote re: Tom Sawyer Island - Aunt Polly's is long closed as a food and beverage location though the rocking chairs and 1800s authentic Coke machines are still there.
Page 521 - It's a Small World should be lower case

Page 563 - Living with the Land touring tip, change "restaurants" to "Sunshine Seasons" as Garden grill isn't open for lunch.
Page 565 - Description says when you enter the Seas, you're given the option to ride or do the exhibits. That's not right. The ride has a separate, outside queue. For the exhibits only, enter through the gift shop at the front.
Page 569 - it's a small world capitalization in Gran Fiesta Tour description

Page 587 - Arriving - Strike the sentence about taking Disney transportation if planning to arrive before open.
Page 590 - in AK services, change Film and Cameras to Camera and Photo Supplies
Page 591 - First full paragraph - Drop "dining" from the sentence "Discovery Island is the park's retail and dining center."

Even when the park is crowded you can see almost everything in a day."

Pages 136, 139, and 140 - effective July 18, 2014 for all new bookings on sailings after January 1, 2015, the minimum age requirement for children has been increased. For most sailings, the minimum age for children to board (and to stay in the ships' nurseries) has been increased from 3 months to six months. On some sailings of longer than seven nights, the minimum age has been raised to one year. Guests with existing reservations involving small children may retain their bookings.

Page 155 - Unofficial Tip - Check your personal navigator on the first day of the cruise for information on signing up for the 5K. It's still free, but Disney does ask now for runners to sign up in advance.

Part 12 - Port Adventures

Page 214 - The Castaway Cay now requires advance sign up (see above).

Page 214 - RunDisney has now designated the 5K on the Dream 4 night Bahamas cruise sailing January 12 - 16 as the Castaway Cay Challenge with special prices for runners who compete in at least one running event during the Disney World Marathon Weekend immediately before the cruise. Cruisers who are not participating in the events before the cruise, or who chose not to pay $65 (plus cruise fare) for a race that is free any other time of year, can still run as part of the normal 5K, but won't receive any of the other prizes. The Castaway Challenge sold out of registrations, which means the 5K on this cruise will be particularly crowded.
