Southwest & Southeast Washington, D.C. Hotels

Southwest and Southeast D.C. just plain don't have a lot of places to stay. Both areas are still undergoing a revitalization, so hotels will come, they're just not there yet. Nevertheless, we have a few good recommendations.

Hampton Inn & Suites Washington DC - Navy Yard

This fairly new hotel has an awesome rooftop bar to go along with its clean, stylish rooms. The large windows, contrasting textures, and engineered wood flooring make it feel more like an apartment than a hotel room (in a good way). It is right next to Nationals Park, so expect price increases on game nights, but when there's no game it is often a bargain. It is only a block away from the Navy Yard Metro (Green, Yellow), so the rest of D.C. is easily accessible. Breakfast is included, something you don't get often in Washington.

Residence Inn Washington DC/Capitol

The rooms here are nicely appointed although not particularly luxurious. They are all suites, so the size is a welcome respite after a long day of touring. The fitness center and small indoor pool--as well as the location next to the Federal Center SW Metro (Blue, Orange, Silver)--help make this a decent value.

Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol

The decor is slightly dated, but the hotel couldn't be in a better location. Its only one block from the L'Enfant Plaza Metro (Green, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Silver) and only 2 blocks from the Air and Space Museum.
