Holidays Around The Parks: Epcot Edition

It’s that time of year again when theme parks roll out their holiday decorations to celebrate the season in their own magical ways. Whether you’re a fan of the mouse or the boy who lived, there is something for everyone this holiday season when it comes to décor in the parks. Today we’re going to take you on a tour through Epcot as we explore some of the elements that make Holidays Around the World one of the grandest, joyous celebrations of the holidays in Orlando.

One of the newer offerings this season is the Cookie Nook, located inside the former Odyssey building. As the name implies, you can find a wide selection of scrumptious Christmas cookies to pair with local brews that have a holiday flair to them. Having grown up in Titusville, I must recommend the Playalinda Brewing Company’s Sparkling Christmas Coffee Blonde, which emits a robust coffee flavor for a lighter beer. Holiday gifts are also available for purchase at this location.

The American Adventure

If you’re looking for a traditional holiday meal, slide on over to the American Holiday Table in the American Adventure. Here you’ll find traditional favorites such as turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a cranberry sauce, along with hot chocolates, and of course eggnog. I decided to try JDub’s Season’s Greetings Peppermint Milk Stout, which surprisingly was a tasty choice.

While you’re in the area, stop by and visit with Santa so you can tell him that you’re all set on socks this year.

As with every festival showcased in Epcot, food booths are located in all of the usual places around World Showcase. The individual foods are themed to the holiday celebrations of the respective nations.

Feast of the Three Kings

A new offering this year is the Feast of the Three Kings, which celebrates the journey of the Three Kings as they followed the star to Bethlehem to find the Christ child.

Bearing gifts, they traversed far…

Befana, the Italian Christmas Witch

One of my absolute favorite parts of Holidays Around the World are the storytellers that share the traditions of each nation. This year I happened upon La Befana, the Christmas witch from Italy whom, according to legend, delivers gifts to children on the Eve of Epiphany. Now I see where the inspiration for the lyrics “Jump in bed and cover your head” come from.

Saint Nicholas gives an important lesson on one of my favorite Christmas traditions: mistletoe.

What would an Epcot festival be without merchandise? From event-specific shirts, ornaments, and mugs to hand-made ornaments, there is something to fit under everyone’s tree this holiday season.

As the day winds down, I always take time to enjoy my favorite part of the holiday season: the decorations.

That concludes our holiday tour around Epcot. Check back soon as we visit the other parks and special holiday décor around Orlando’s theme parks!
