How to Get a Free Replacement 2017 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World

The original printing of the 2017 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World had incorrect touring plan maps in the back of the book. We recalled all of the books from bookstores and online sellers, fixed the errors, and re-printed the book.

If you pre-ordered the 2017 Unofficial Guide in any format and got a flawed edition, we’ll replace it free of charge.  Here’s the website to visit: http://theunofficialguides.com/2017-walt-disney-world-corrections/. You’ll have the choice of receiving a free corrected e-book, free print book, or free downloads of the corrected pages.

Here’s how to tell if your edition is eligible:

  • The ISBN number of the eligible print book is 978-1-62809-052-9. (The corrected book’s ISBN is 978-1-62809-066-6.)
  • On page 825, in the Disney’s Animal Kingdom One-Day Touring Plan, the circle for Step 3 (“Na’Vi River Journey”) is near the text label “DinoLand U.S.A.”

If it’s still unclear, email the publisher and they’ll help you out.

All stores and online sellers have the new, corrected edition. (Amazon says it’s shipping September 20, but we confirmed on Friday they’ve received their stock.)

  • I purchased my copy of the 2017 guide on August 13, 2016 at Books-A-Million in Brandon, FL. It has the ISBN number 978-1-62809-052-9 on the back cover and luckily I kept my receipt.

  • Len, wanted to thank you and the team at Unofficial for offering this to us. As an individual who sometimes feels like life is conducted digitally (and I’m not “old” – I’m 34), I indulge in the print version of this, my Disney Bible each year and have cultivated a collection of sorts.

I know this is not an inexpensive endeavor, but I do appreciate it… especially since we’re tacking on two days at WDW to a R&R trip to Florida in less than 2 weeks!!

Please keep up the great work on the print and digital editions, as well as the killer Touring Plans service online.

    Best,
    Joe C in Chi.

  • Are all the maps incorrect or just the animal kingdom one day?

  • The latest beyond Disney has loads of errors in it. (I.e. Rides in legoland that shut down in 2013! (It’s the 2016 edition. I wrote something on the Facebook page but no one responded. Heights on rides were different too.

  • Hello! I too purchased the ebook. However, the website reads:

(Please note: All ebook versions of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2017 are correct. This recall only pertains to the first printing of the 2017 book.)

Is that accurate? Also, my ebook doesn’t have an Index. Is that intentional?

    Thank you!

    • My ebook does have an index so there may be something wrong with yours.

      • Really?

My eBook jumps from Reader Comments to the Touring Plans. I’m very displeased. Wish I spent my money on the actual book.

      • Kristi, let me know what kind of e-reader you have, please. I’ll forward the info to the publisher.

      • Hi Len! Thanks so much!! I’m using the Kindle app.

      • I am using an actual Kindle but I also checked the Kindle apps on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac and they are all missing the index as well. Kristi has a point. The search feature is nice but if you misspell something then you don’t get what you are looking for. An index would be nice in case you want to use it….plus the printed version does have one. Thanks for forwarding to the publisher.

      • My mistake! Mine does the same thing! Skips from Reader Comments to the Touring Plans. I have to admit when I was looking for something a few days ago I didn’t even go to the index…it is listed in the table of contents for the ebook but I didn’t use it. I just did a search for what I was looking for and then clicked on the link and was taken straight to it. It was much easier than dealing with an index.

      • I’m an Index user, big time. The search function is nice, but a bit sluggish for my liking. Also on my screen the search “finds” are truncated so I sometimes have to click on a few of the descriptors to find what I wanted. Also, if the search term isn’t correct, you’re out of luck. For example, “fast pass” produces no results only “fastpass” does. I find it somewhat frustrating.

  • I tried requesting an Ebook replacement but the form doesn’t seem to be working. After I enter my email address the second time, there is no prompt or button to click to submit my information. I’m using an iPad, if that helps.

    • Yep, that appears to be a problem. Sorry about that, Carolyn. I’ll notify the publisher about the form. In the meantime, I suggest sending them an email at the address above to get your ebook replaced.

  • I had purchased both the print version of the book as well as the e-edition for my kindle. I completed the form to replace the print version. How do I get my e-edition replaced as well?

    Reply
    • I suggest filling out the form twice, Patsy, once for each format purchased. If that doesn’t work, there’s an email address in the blog post to contact the publisher directly. And if *that* doesn’t work, let me know. 🙂

      • I see now that the e-books were correct from the beginning soI won’t need to replace it after all. It was just the print books that were incorrect and I have already requested a corrected copy. Sorry for any confusion.

  • I hadn’t gotten to the “clip-out” section of my 2017 UGWDW, so I was unaware of the printing error. Thanks for the several replacement options.

  • I’ll check again with the publisher, Paul. This was the 2016 edition, correct?

    • Hey Paul,

I checked with the author. The publisher didn’t provide an updated index or corrected book printing. My suggestion is to contact the publisher at liliane@adventurewithkeen.com. They might be able to get you a copy of the newest edition, which should be correct.
