Disney in a Minute: What is a Bounceback Offer?

A bounceback offer is a promotional discount rate offered by Disney World. What makes it different: it’s only offered to guests who are currently staying at a Walt Disney World resort. Disney knows that a lot of folks start thinking about a return trip before they leave, so they extend this offer to encourage you to “bounce back.”

Bounceback offers aren’t always available. But if they are, they can offer some significant savings on your next trip. Discounts of 30% to 35% off regular room rates are not uncommon, and sometimes the offer is free dining or other discounts.

Disney used to place a flyer in your room, but these days, they may use other methods. The offer may come to you as an email the day you check out, or on your room TV. And you’ll need to act soon, because there’s a time limit. You must make a reservation before you leave Disney World, or within seven days of checking out.

How to take action? If you’re in your room, you can call x8844. Or once you’re home, call 407-934-7639. If “Save on your next stay” shows up on a list of your current promotions, you can also make a reservation on the My Disney Experience website. (You may need to be signed in to see it.) Even if you didn’t get notified about a bounceback offer directly, you can call either of the numbers above to ask what the current offer is and then book it.

There’s some money involved up front, of course. You’ll need to place a deposit, the same as you would for any Disney World Vacation Package or room reservation. The good news is that you can change dates, if you want or need to, as long as the dates and rooms are available/qualify for the offer. (Not all dates or resorts or even room categories within a resort are eligible for a bounceback booking.)

An interesting but sometimes overlooked detail: each adult on your reservation can book a bounceback offer! So you, your spouse/partner, or whoever you’re traveling and sharing a room with, can each make a bounceback reservation. Sometimes you can book up to 3 rooms on the bounceback, perfect if you’re traveling with a larger family or group. If you’re like me and mostly use a travel agent, your agent can call in for you to take advantage of the offer, as long as it’s within 7 days of checking out.
