Save the Date! 2025 TouringPlans Gingerbread Snapdown

We’re so excited to announce that the TouringPlans Gingerbread Snapdown is back and will be REMOTE this year! Maybe you are wondering …

What is the Snapdown?

The idea of building gingerbread houses on Disney property originated in 2020 when Len attempted to build a store-bought gingerbread house at the tables in front of Casey’s Corner. There were several hundred folks on our Instagram Live watching Len, a certified computer/data/clicky-clack smartie, fail to successfully complete even one standing wall. This epic disaster in icing led to the annual Gingerbread Smackdown. We held this event two years in the Magic Kingdom and once in EPCOT.

Why?

We’ve had questions from first-timers over the years about why we do this event. Beyond just having fun, it’s a great way for us to give away tons of prizes and show a little love to the community that keeps us in business. Plus, who doesn’t love a trophy?!? It won’t cost you much beyond your time and maybe a few supplies if you decide to participate. More on the materials in a bit.

The Timeline & Rules

There are six award categories, but we’re planning for dozens of winners. You may submit your piece under one or more categories or just go rogue. Let’s go over the rules:

  • The festivities are remote! You’ll get to build your gingerbread creation at home and submit your entries via pictures and/or video.
  • Video and picture submissions are due by Friday, December 5, 2025.
  • Email all submissions to Christina@touringplans.com
  • Len and Chrissy will decide the winners. A tie will be decided by Chrissy. Winners are decided with bias. All decisions are final.
  • Winners will be announced via our Instagram Stories the evening of Saturday, December 6, 2025.
  • Prizes, medals, and trophies will be mailed out the week of December 8, 2025.

If you win, we will reach out via your submission email to get your mailing address. Prizes will include everything from small Disney coloring sets to a few Disney holiday Loungefly bags. We’ll post videos of the prizes and medals on our Instagram stories as we get closer to the event.

Want a few more tips for a winning submission? Well …

  • Did your child make the creation? Automatic 50-point bonus.
  • Have you included Muppets? That’s another 25 points.
  • Fraggle Rock or Disney’s Gummi Bears submissions are automatic winners.
  • Same for anything that incorporates the Steelers and Disney.
  • … You’re getting the idea, right?

The Award Categories

The Gumdrop Gals Award for Unsanctioned Items

This is a prestigious award that has its roots in some of our favorite past winners who managed to get past EPCOT security with lighting fixtures and enormous displays. This award will go to the entry that celebrates the use of anything but gingerbread! You may draw or color your gingerbread creation. You may decide to make it out of LEGOs or anything else you have around the house. Do you have a gross of brown pom poms from a science experiment? This is your area to shine!

The Hank Lonely Award

Create Hank in gingerbread and we’re sure to be dazzled- just don’t forget the hair! Anything showcasing our beloved Starcruiser or any of Hank’s movies – who can forget that cinematic gem, “Space Robots in Outer Space” – will guarantee a showing. We’re aware “Space Robots” is a 9-part series, so feel free to interpret any scene from your favorite in the ennealogy. This category has a pretty fierce returning champ, Miss. Christi C., so the fuller the curls, the better your chances of success!

The Potatoland Award

This award will be given to the creation that best celebrates Potatoland, true friendship, and (TouringPlans Subscriber) Liner Love. If you haven’t had a chance to watch Potatoland on Disney+, it can be found under Season 1, Episode 13 of Mickey Mouse Shorts.

The Future Imagineer Award

This is destined for the cutest kid with the best effort. Or the most icing. Or the kid who didn’t actually build anything but grabbed a fistful of icing to gnaw on. Past winners have excelled at all of these things. Spoiler – we’re going to give away a few of these awards.

The Disney Dish Schmursday Award

Are you a Disney Dish listener? Then this is your category! This trophy will go to the gingerbread art that shows either your favorite cold open by Len, your favorite show topic, where you listen, or just the changing hairlines of Jim & Len. Your pick!

The Magic Case Award

Have you heard The Case for with Chris Cox? This new podcast features Chris and Len making the case for differing Disney views. They’ve discussed rope drop, park hopping, and the pros and cons of Disney transportation. Have a listen to the first two episodes before you dig in. Maybe you’ll decide to show Chris & Len as barristers in Mickey ears on Main Street? Maybe a gingerbread Chris & Len doing magic tricks at the Rose and Crown? Whatever you think will help you take home the hardware sounds good to us.

Note: Chris Cox will decide this winner, so maybe a good Google review for the pod and some reposts of his stories on Instagram will help lean the results in your favor. Just saying.

We hope you decide to participate in our remote 2025 Gingerbread Snapdown. We can’t wait to see your submissions!
