10 Things on My Wish List for Disney Cruise Line
As a follow-up to my last post about how Disney can improve their Castaway Club loyalty program, I’ve got another list! This one is my wish list. Things I would love to see Disney Cruise Line add or change. 10 Things!
1. Adventure Class Ship Here in the U.S. – I love small ships, but I think the U.S. market would love a mega-ship here in this market. The Adventure wasn’t designed by Disney, and we don’t know yet how successfully Disney completed it. If it has problems, then maybe a whole new class is in order. I would love to see a ship with more options for active teenagers and young adults. A big ship offers more space to add things like rock climbing walls and similar activities. Giant ships aren’t for everyone. That’s why it’s good to have options!

2. Bring Back the Nighttime Casual Dinner – Please hear me on this one, Disney. We miss Cabanas being open at night for dinner. The ship is lacking dinner options for those who don’t want to eat in the Main Dining Room every night. Every other line has a buffet or casual sit-down option at night. Please bring it back.
3. New Itineraries – I love new itineraries. Even if they aren’t popular and don’t make it in the regular rotation, I love it when something new is offered. Long-time cruisers want some new destinations to visit! How about Belize? Or Brazil?
4. Come Back to New York City – The Northeastern United States is ready. Bring back New York City as a departure port!
5. More Themed Cruises – Themed cruises are a bonus. You can enjoy the themed activities, or treat it like a normal cruise. I miss Star Wars cruises! There are so many new things they could do too, like a cruise full of rare characters, a Muppets themed cruise, or how about a Disney Parks-themed cruise? Who wouldn’t love to see the Dapper Dans onboard?
6. Pop Up Experiences – After experiencing roaming magicians and performers on Virgin Voyages, I realized how fun that spontaneous and unexpected entertainment can be. I think Disney took a step in that direction with the original characters on the Wish-class ships and Dr. Facilier’s Parlor on the Destiny, and I think they could take it even further!
7. More Immersive Experiences – I’ve said before that the final night onboard the Destiny reminded me of the final night onboard the Galactic Starcruiser. I think Disney could go even harder on full immersion. The Destiny has a heroes and villains theme. Imagine if you were told to pick the hero path or the villain path? Then whichever you chose affected small things on your sailing. Like special meet and greets. Or DisneyBand+ quests. Maybe even small, in-room gifts at night?
8. Adult-Only Cruises – I fully realize the odds are low that this will ever happen, but wouldn’t it be fun to try? Adventures by Disney has adult-only itineraries, why can’t Disney Cruise Line? Just a couple of sailings a year!
9. Make the Spa a Better Experience – Guests love the spa onboard. And HATE the high-pressure upselling of products that takes place after a relaxing treatment. After experiencing an incredible massage at Aulani with zero upselling at the end, I realized it’s not normal for spas, and it’s not okay.
10. Stop Making Us Go to the Muster Drill in Person – For a brief, glorious time after Disney resumed cruising, the Muster Drill was virtual. We had to check in at our station and watch the rest on the app. Now we are back to in-person musters, with long waits, hot sun, and huge bottlenecks afterwards. It’s not a great way to start an amazing cruise. Other lines have figured it out and kept theirs virtual with a check-in in person. Disney, for the love of all that’s good, please go back to the glory days of virtual Musters.
What did I miss? What would you like to see?

Yes on Cabanas for dinner. Especially on longer (7+N) sailings.
