The American Adventure to Add New Exhibit

One of the best parts of visiting Epcot is learning by visiting each of the countries and seeing the cultural exhibits that each one offers. Coming soon to the American Adventure Pavilion in the American Heritage Gallery will be a art exhibition called “Creating Tradition: Innovation and Change in American Indian Art”.

This new exhibit is going to be brought to life through a collaboration of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

Artists that will be featured will include fashion designer Loren Aragon (Acoma Pueblo), doll maker Glenda McKay (Ingalik-Athabascan), and Juanita Growing Thunder (Assiniboine Sioux) from the Growing Thunder family of Montana.

This new exhibition will feature interactive elements, where some of the artists will share the creative process and inspirations behind their works in their own words.

Creating Tradition: Innovation and Change in American Indian Art will premiere later this summer.

  • I’ll be visiting DisneyWorld again in May, so I’ll most likely miss this one. That being said, working for an Aboriginal company has definitely opened my eyes to some of the culture and history that permeates many of the forms of art. I’ll be quite interested to see how this turns out!
