A Guide to Souvenir Mugs at Disney

In recent years it has become an unwritten rule that whenever a new restaurant opens at Walt Disney World a souvenir mug must be created for purchase. This also seems to go for new shows and attractions. The amount of souvenirs all throughout Walt Disney World is staggering. Disney souvenir mugs are a great way to have a practical souvenir that you’re sure to use once you are back home.

Let’s take a look at all the different souvenir mugs available through Walt Disney World. You can decide which ones you must have and plan room in your budget for these little treasures, and make sure to fit obtaining them into your schedule.

Walt Disney World Resort Hotels Refillable Mugs

The best selling and most asked about souvenir mugs are the refillable mugs at the Walt Disney World Resort hotels. Once upon a time you could hang onto these babies and use them repeatedly over the years. But of course Disney leadership got wise and found a way to enforce the policy. Now refillable mugs are purchased for a specific amount of days and have a chip in them that activates the soda fountain. The current pricing is $8.99 for 1 Day, $11.99 for 2 Days, $14.99 for 3 Days, $17.99 for Length of Stay, plus tax.

The mugs are insulated and work pretty well to keep beverages hot or cold. They are also dishwasher safe and hold up pretty well throughout the years. I have several from years gone by and I still use them at home on a regular basis.

For a brief time in 2016 these mugs no longer had handles, upsetting hundreds of guests. After all it’s hard enough being a parent with kids in tow trying to fill up and carry mugs for the whole tribe. And the outcry on social media speaks to the popularity of these mugs.

Magic Kingdom Souvenir Mugs

Each park has its own collection of souvenir mugs, and Magic Kingdom has a lot of options. Let’s see there’s the Country Bear Jamboree jug, Gaston’s mug, Belle’s goblet, and Skipper Canteen metal mug, and Liberty Tree Tavern mug.

• Gaston’s Mug and Belle’s Goblet $12.99 with LeFou’s Brew – frozen apple juice topped with passion fruit-mango foam, available at Gaston’s Tavern (Fantasyland)
• Skipper Canteen Metal Mug $13.50 / $14.50, Punch Line Punch Tropical Fruit Juices and Mango Purée. $13.50, Schweitzer Slush Frozen Apple Juice and Passion Fruit topped with Bursting Green Apple Boba Balls, $14.50
• Liberty Tree Tavern Keeper Mug $14.50 served with “Patriots slush” a frozen blend of cherry and apple.

The most popular mugs among Disney fans are the Country Bear Jamboree jug and the Orange Bird sipper (currently not available, but hopefully will return to Sunshine Tree Terrace in the future…… maybe). Kids seem to love Gaston’s mug and Belle’s chalice.

Epcot Souvenir Mugs

Surprisingly, Epcot is home to only one souvenir mug (aside from special cups and glasses offered during the various festivals throughout the year). The beer stein makes holding your beer as you stroll World Showcase a little easier, and it just looks cool. Plus, it is pretty practical to use again back home. The price of the souvenir beer stein depends on the beer that you order with it. Prices range from $13.00 – $15.50. Not every country offers a souvenir beer stein, but the most popular pavilions for making a beer stop do, like Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Souvenir Mugs

The Force is strong with souvenir mugs at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Really the only souvenir mugs that are available in this park, and worth mentioning, are the two Star Wars selections. Who wouldn’t want to drink out of Chewbacca’s head or a droid? Each of these drinking vessels are available for $13.99 with a fountain beverage. Found at Backlot Express, near Star Tours – The Adventure Continues. Backlot Express is worth at least a walk through because of the props and because it is living relic of 1989.

Less impressive are the souvenir cups available with a slushy at Sweet Spells. Choose from a slim Frozen themed cup or bright colored cup topped with Mickey Mouse ears. These cups are about $5.00 more than buying the slushy on its own for $4.79.

Souvenir Mugs at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

You won’t find much in way of souvenir mugs here at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, though the ones that are available are creative and unique. Animal Kingdom is full of suprises. Rivers of Light.  In the Africa area of the park Mahindi snacks and drinks offers a Jungle Juice Slushy, which is a blend of Guava, Passion Fruit, and Orange Juice. For $13.99 it is served in a slender African wood carving style mug with a handle that sounds like a flute or recorder when you blow into it; it’s called an Ocarina. That’s right, it’s a musical mug!

The next souvenir mug at Animal Kingdom is available in Asia at the Warung Outpost. The Shangri-La Berry Freeze is a strawberry puree blend and served in an African mask style mug for $13.99.

Back in June 2016, when night time festivities debuted at Disney’s Animal Kingdom we were treated to really cool souvenir mugs that light up and change color. One is a collapsible cup that resembles a paper lantern ($12.99). The other is more detailed, resembling an ornate oil lamp ($13.99). It is pretty clear that these were designed to match the style of the Rivers of Light show. It’s been a while since these mugs were last spotted at Disney’s Animal Kingdom; hopefully now that Rivers of Light has debut they will quickly return.
