Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary begins in just a couple of months on May 16. And in July, the park will see a few changes that highlight its history. If you’re visiting on or after July 17, 2025, here’s what you can look forward to!

Main Street Cinema Honors the Sherman Brothers

A new three-and-a-half minute film called The Last Verse honors the Sherman brothers. In case you are like “who?”, which would be totally understandable if you are not reading about Disney day-in and day-out, the Sherman brothers scored several Disney live-action and animated films.

Looking for the brilliant musical minds behind Supercalifragilisticexpaladocious and Chim Chim Cher-ee? You’ve found them. Inside the parks, the brothers also provided the earworm songs for some of your favorite attractions, including One Little Spark for Journey into Imagination with Figment, and It’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow for the Carousel of Progress.

These Disney Legends had a large body of work outside the Disney ecosphere, but The Last Verse focuses on perhaps their most famous song, It’s A Small World (After All). The movie debuts on July 17 at the Main Street Cinema, and reveals a new final verse to the song. This new verse will also be added to the it’s a small world attraction at Disneyland beginning on July 17.

New Exhibits at the Main Street Opera House

The Main Street Opera House will host all-new experiences, debuting on July 17. The gallery exhibit will focus on how Walt’s dream of Disneyland evolved, eventually becoming the theme park that opened on July 17 in 1955. Images, art, and artifacts – some new to public display – will show Disneyland before, during, and after its realization. This new gallery features relics and memorabilia curated by Walt Disney Imagineering and the Walt Disney Archives.

In the lobby, a second special exhibit focuses on Audio-Animatronics technology. One of the most famous innovations of the Walt Disney Company, this exhibit covers the history of the field from Walt’s era to the present.

These gallery exhibits will be accompanied by the display of several items from Walt’s private apartment above the Fire Station on Main Street. Among them are an original rocking chair, lamp, and table which are being exhibited to the public at Disneyland for the first time. And you can look for some of Walt’s humanitarian accolades in the exhibits as well. The Walt Disney Family Museum has loaned several items, including his 1955 Emmy Award for the Walt Disney’s Disneyland TV show, his Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Walt Disney Commemorative Medal presented to Lillian Disney by President Nixon in 1969.

Walt Disney – A Magical Life

At last year’s D23 event, held in August, Disney announced the development of a new theater attraction for the Main Street Opera House.  Walt Disney – A Magical Life uses remastered footage and audio to take guests through the story of the man behind it all. After the recap, the curtain will rise on Walt’s office and an Audio-Animatronic of Walt Disney himself, ready to share a few words of wisdom with the audience.
