Date-Based Ticket Pricing for Walt Disney World Debuts

Today is the day! The Walt Disney World Resort has officially unveiled a date-based ticket system for Guests looking to visit its Florida theme parks.

With this new system, Guests can purchase tickets using an interactive online calendar that displays different ticket prices based on the dates they choose to visit. To purchase tickets now, first Guests will need to choose the number of days they are looking to visit the parks, as well as the ticket start date (so, the first day you want to use your tickets) using the online interactive calendar. The calendar will show per-day pricing based on your start date and the length of ticket.

Once you select your start date, at the bottom you’ll see the total cost for your tickets, as well as the date range for how long you’ll have to use your tickets. (Previously, all tickets were valid for 14 days from first-use. Now, the period of validity ranges from 4 days for 2-day tickets to 14 days for 10-day tickets.) Once your dates are selected, you’ll be able to choose how many adult and how many child tickets to purchase. (The price listed does not initially show child pricing.) From there, you’ll be able to add on things like the Park Hopper or Memory Maker.

If you are looking for the lowest-priced tickets, there is an option at the top to see which months offer tickets with the cheapest prices.

Not sure when you want to go? For an extra fee, you can purchase a ticket with a flexible start date, meaning you don’t have to choose the day you want to visit the parks. Those tickets are valid for 14 days after first use.

What happens if you need to change something with your tickets? Never fear! If you need to change dates, upgrade to a Park Hopper, or add days, you can easily do that, as long as it’s prior to the start date you selected. Keep in mind that while there is not a specific change fee, you will have to pay any additional costs for tickets that cost more than what you initially paid. Also, (and this part is a bit of a downer) if you change to a day that actually offers cheaper tickets…you don’t get a refund or credit. Oh, and keep in mind that if you do change your ticket dates and you previously made FastPass+ selections, you will need to make new FastPass+ selections for any new dates you’ll be visiting the parks.

Now, let’s look at the tickets, themselves. Compared to previous pricing, there are some tickets that have decreased, or stayed the same, however, of course, there are some that increased, depending on the start date and length of the ticket. For example, if a Guest purchased a 3-day ticket with a start date of Feb. 10, 2019 he will now actually pay $4 less per day than before. Conversely, a Guest purchasing a 6-day ticket with a start date of Thanksgiving will now pay an average of $5 per day additional. Want to visit on Christmas Day? You’ll pay the same amount you would have before.

The new date-specific prices will not change once released. So, you don’t have to worry that as the day becomes more popular, the ticket prices will increase. Oh, and, just like before, the daily ticket decreases as your length of visit increases, so the more you play, the less you pay per day.

Looking at the breakdown, a one-day ticket starts at $109 and tops out at $129. A 10-day ticket now ranges from $44 per day, all the way to $51 per day.

Annual Passes

Ticket prices aren’t the only thing that increased today. Annual Pass pricing also increased.

Disney Platinum Pass Plus – $994.00 (ages 3 and up) (Increase of $45 – total price increase for the year is $125)

• Up to 20% off on select dining and merchandise
• Theme park parking

Water Park Ticket Pricing

These did not increase. They are still:

• 1-Day Water Park Ticket Adults (ages 10 and up) – $65.00
• 1-Day Water Park Ticket Children (ages 3-9) – $59.00
• Seasonal Water Park 1-Day Ticket Adults (ages 10 and up) – $60.00
• Seasonal Water Park 1-Day Ticket Children (ages 3-9) – $54.00

Parking

Parking, however did increase and yikes…..

• Preferred parking: car or motorcycle – $50 per day
• Standard parking: car or motorcycle – $25 per day
• Shuttle, Limo, Camper, Trailer or RV, Bus or Tractor Trailer – $30 per day
