Also, I disagree with Brian’s point on an evening at DCA. First, RSR does have a height requirement of 40 inches, so I’m not sure a toddler can even get on. For toddlers, you’re better off at DL than DCA; there’s just way more for them to do. But for anybody, it’s tough to do just an evening at DCA. You have two options for RSR. 1.) Wait 1.5+ hours on that line. 2.) Get your FP IMMEDIATELY, but then you can’t grab any others for the next two hours, during which the FP’s for the other big attractions may run out, so you’ll be left with stand-by lines for those.
You can really do all of DCA in a full day with rope drop, liberal use of FP’s, and a good plan. Even a full day at DL will leave things to do. So if you have multiple days, do some of DL in your extra evening and then do a full day at each. That will also allow you to see both the DL fireworks and Fantasmic! If you’re ONLY spending that half-day at the resort, DL should be a higher priority, has more to do, and is easier to do when you show up late.
The Fantasmic! dining package at Disneyland is SOOO worth it! I’ll do it EVERY time I go there. I could be wrong on this, but I don’t think BB and RBT have the same seating area. The seating area for BB, though, is down in front right in the center. Also, it’s very uncrowded, so you can stroll up 10 minutes before showtime and get great seats. They also give you a cushion to sit on. The food, of course, is amazing, with appetizer, entree, and dessert.
RBT, however, has a special “premium” seating add-on to the dining package that allows you to sit at the tables to watch the show. It’s the only way to see Fantasmic! in an actual seat, unless you’re in a wheelchair/ECV. I got this for my 65+ yo parents recently and they loved it, because sitting on the ground for the full show would be tough for them. Those tickets go quickly, though, and the only way to get them is by calling, so do your research and call early.

Thank you for sharing your insights! The dessert party sounds like the way to go when it comes to viewing the fireworks. I’m definitely going to book one of the two (I’ll pass on the quick service package) when I go to Disneyland.

The FP for F! Is still not great. You’re still packed in and need to get there early to avoid being pushed to the back and sides. There is NO standby viewing for F! so the FP is literally as bad as you can get. The dining package actually gives a relaxing viewing experience. You can still get a great view of the fireworks with a lot less camp-out time than even the FP for F! My recommendation is the dining package for F! And the dessert party for WoC.
And BTW, F! Is WAY better at DLR than WDW. Not least because you’re so close to it. Brian is right though, the crowds and traffic around Frontierland and NOS are highly off-putting. Another reason the dining package is great: you can avoid it all. Can’t wait for Star Wars to open to pull attention elsewhere and eliminate the dead end on the west side of the park.
