Welcome to Menu Monday. If your diet started today, we apologize. The TouringPlans Blog is trying out themed days for our content – starting with a consolidation of food and restaurant reviews on Mondays. Let us know what you think by emailing blog at touring plans dot com.

Sandwiches are pretty darn close to being the world’s most perfect food. No wonder they’re Anna and Hans’ favorite food (I mean, they’re always finishing each other’s sandwiches…). They aren’t expensive, cover most of the main food groups, can be simple or gourmet. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t like sandwiches. Even the pickiest eater can usually find a sandwich they enjoy. So, whether your have a family of picky eaters, frugal penny-pinchers, or just sandwich connoisseurs, here’s a list of the top ten places to find the best sandwiches in Disney World.

*If you’re looking to save some dough, be sure to ask the cast members at each dining location if they give discounts to DVC members, Annual Passholders, or if they accept the Tables in Wonderland discount. This information changes regularly, so it’s always good to ask to make sure you get the best bang for your buck!*

Earl of Sandwich - Full Montagu.

Earl of Sandwich (Downtown Disney): For me, no Disney vacation is complete without a visit to Earl of Sandwich, in the Marketplace of Downtown Disney. They have a huge selection of sandwiches which are priced around $6. With a choice of numerous side dish options and a beverage, you’re looking at spending a little less than $10 for a very tasty and filling meal. I can think of no better way to spend an afternoon than with my favorite Earl of Sandwich (The Full Montagu), a patio table and people-watching as families hustle and bustle into the World of Disney in search of vacation treasures.

Starring Rolls (Hollywood Studios): Starring Rolls is best known as the location to find the infamous Butterfinger Cupcake, but this little nook tucked next to Hollywood Brown Derby on Hollywood Boulevard also has two of the biggest sandwiches I’ve ever seen. They offer a ham sandwich and a turkey sandwich option (each priced at $9.99). Each comes with layers and layers of delicious deli meat on artisan bread. I recommend getting one sandwich to share between two people, that way you have room to split a Butterfinger Cupcake (priced at $3.99) as well!

Sunshine Seasons (Epcot): Located on the lower level of the Land Pavilion concourse, this food court style counter service location is probably more well known for it’s mature, international flare on some dining classics. I often skipped Sunshine Seasons until fellow blogger, Tom Bricker, informed me of the deliciousness that is their turkey and monterey jack sandwich on ciabatta (priced at $9.69). Though I still might choose to dine in World Showcase, if I get a hankering for a sandwich, this my destination. Complete with air conditioning, ample seating and a good view of people-watching guests hustling to-and-fro around Soarin’, Sunshine Seasons is tough to beat.

The Jambon Beurre at Les Halles Boulangerie & Pâtisserie

Les Halles Boulangerie & Pâtisserie (Epcot): No matter your appetite or your budget, Les Halles tucked in the back of the France Pavilion in World Showcase can give you exactly what you’re looking for. The Croissant Jambon Fromage is a snack-priced ham and cheese sandwich on a croissant (only $4.75!) . Have the cast members heat it up to give a little extra zip. You really can’t beat the bargain of this sandwich for less than $5. If you need something a bit more substantial, try the Jambon Beurre (ham and cheese on a baguette). The bread is authentic, and is filling it can make a full meal for only $7.50.

Kringla Bakeri og Café (Epcot): You come for the School Bread, you stay for the roast beef. This bakery in the Norway Pavilion doesn’t just sell delicious pastries, the roast beef sandwich complete with caramelized onions on ciabatta (priced at $8.19) is just the meal to fill your belly after a trek around World Showcase. If you have adventurous diners in your group, see if anyone’s interested in trying their salmon and egg sandwich. I’m intrigued by it, but can’t seem to pull myself away from the tender roast beef!

Studio Catering Co. (Hollywood Studios): Perhaps not known for having the best sandwiches on Disney property, one of the unique contributions this dining option has is a vegetarian sandwich (for $9.49). As a card-toting carnivore, I always opt for the pressed turkey club (priced at $10.49), but aroma of the grilled vegetable sandwich has tempted me more than once. If you have vegetarians in your group, or perhaps are just looking for a bit healthier option, the Studios Catering Co. could be a great choice for you.

Flame Tree Barbeque (Animal Kingdom): I’ll be the first to admit, it’s hard to visit Flame Tree and not get the ribs. In an attempt to be a well-round Disney food enthusiast, I did the unthinkable and passed up the ribs to order the pork sandwich (a mere $9.49). I was not disappointed! Smoked on location and delicately shredded and piled high on a soft bun, this sandwich made me wish I had more in common with the animals surrounding me. I mean, how cool would it be to have seven stomachs like a cow so I could enjoy every entrée Flame Tree offers? Until then, I’ll have to pace myself, and visit with friends so I can sneak tastes of their meals when they aren’t looking!

Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments (Magic Kingdom): There might be some debate in the Disney Foodie community on if the waffle sandwiches (each priced at $7.19) offered at Sleepy Hollow are actually allowed to be classified as sandwiches, but I say, no matter what their true food group is, they are delicious and I fully accept them into the sandwich family. You’ll find Sleepy Hollow near Liberty Square as you approach it from the “hub”. And once you find it, you’ll make every excuse you can think of to return. And while we’re stretching the sandwich definition, be sure to try one of their hand-scooped ice cream cookie sandwiches (priced at $4.19).

Capt Cook’s (The Polynesian Village Resort): Some guests may avoid visiting the Polynesian due to the recent construction and updates it’s currently undergoing, but if you’re looking to snoop around and get a sneak peak at the changes, be sure to swing by Capt Cook’s to indulge in their Grown Up Grilled Cheese (only $8.19). This is a mature twist to a comfort food classic.  This sandwich blends three cheeses (swiss, boursin, and cheddar) on a sunflower seed multigrain bread. If you time it just right, you can enjoy the sandwich and a Dole Whip on the Poly beach and watch the Wishes firework display at Magic Kingdom. What a great way to end the day!

The Fountain Eats & Sweets (Dolphin at Walt Disney World): You may not even know of this little restaurant unless you’ve stayed at the Dolphin. Take a slightly pricier stroll down memory lane in this informal soda shop style restaurant. The menu offers some classic sandwich options (like a tasty Rueben) you can’t find easily at other Disney dining locations, but you can also find some more adventurous options like a lamb gyro or a falafel. Prices for this variety of sandwiches vary between $10.25-$14.75 but the quality of selection is worth it. If you’re looking to continue your sandwich theme into dessert, try the PB&J shake!

My passion for Disney runs deep; I've got pixie dust in my veins. Everyone loves the famous Mickey Mouse, but Disney vacations host a wealth of sophisticated experiences, too. On my bucket list is to seek out and enjoy every last one of them!

  • Best sandwich I have EVER had was the turkey sandwich at the Diamond Horseshoe Revue circa 2002 while watching the can-can show that was discontinued shortly after.

  • Great research! Thanks for an interesting post.
So many tasty sandwiches… But given a choice I’ll take Earl of Sandwich and Flame Tree BBQ every time. Or a boring burger and Sonny Eclipse! 🙂

  • The Cuban Sandwich at Bongos. Central Florida is famous for it’s Cuban sandwiches and this one is excellent with great bread.

I’ll have a Mojito and a side of Papas Rellenas (Fried Breaded Mashed Potato Stuffed with Cuban Criolla Minced Beef). Too please.

/also this is great place for a walk in without reservations and eat and have a drink at the bar.

  • I feel like a bit of an outsider within the TP community sometimes as have some pretty unpopular opinions… I don’t like the Earl of Sandwich, (I feel it’s over-rated), I don’t like (Cava de) Tequila which pretty much wipes out all Len’s advice AND I like Stitch’s Great Escape. I’m a TP social pariah. 😉

  • Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort has 2 of my favorite sandwiches. The hot smoked turkey sandwich is huge and delicious, and the lobster roll is usually good so long as the person making it doesn’t skimp on the filling. They aren’t cheap, but I’ve found them to be worth the money.
