New Disney World Room Request Features

Disney World is home to more than 30,000 hotel rooms spread across more than 30 hotels with various themes and styles of rooms. There are many choices! Fortunately, we’ve got some tools to help keep track of your vacation decisions, as well as to help request a room that will work well for your travel group:

  • Our TouringPlans Room Finder tool helps you sort through those 30,000 Disney World rooms (with maps and view photos!).
  • Our Room Request tool can set up and send a request directly to Disney World on your behalf.
  • Your TouringPlans Dashboard lets you keep track of details for your upcoming trips.

New Features

Now these tools are even better! New features include:

  • A simple Room Request page (https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/room-request) where you can fully configure a Disney World room request, all on one screen, with or without using our Room Finder tool. (Note that the Room Finder and Room Request tools are only available for Walt Disney World.)
  • Room Requests can support multiple reservations for the same hotel. This is useful if you are traveling with a group or have back-to-back stays in the same hotel.
  • A Dashboard Trip can support multiple destinations. For example, you can have a trip that includes both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando.
  • A Dashboard Trip can include multiple reservations, and each Disney World reservation can have its own Room Request.

(Note that while you can see trips in our Lines apps, you may not able to see and/or modify all trip details at this time. Use our website for that.)

New Room Request Tool

If you’re ready to make a room request, you can try our new Room Request page. (You need to have active TouringPlans Disney World access to use this feature.)

Room Request Screens

If you have existing Trip, you can select it (along with any reservations) from the green box at the top, and most details will fill in automatically. If you do not, a new Trip (with a generic name like “WDW Trip on 5/1/2026”) and appropriate Reservations will be created automatically on your Dashboard when you complete this form.

If you opt to use the Room Finder (as shown on the left above), you’ll be taken to that tool to explore and select a desirable room after clicking the blue Use Room Finder for Request button at the bottom.

If you do not want to use the Room Finder (as shown on the right above), input your request (e.g., “ground floor room anywhere”) in the Room Characteristics box. Your request will be complete after clicking Create Room Request, and you’ll see it on your dashboard.

Dashboard Updates

For those of you have previously used our Room Request tool, the changes should be fairly intuitive: if you’d like, you can continue to do everything starting from the Trips tab of your TouringPlans Dashboard, which looks a bit different:

TouringPlans Dashboard Trips

The “Jenny’s Birthday” Trip above has three hotel reservations, reflecting a vacation with a 1+2-night “split stay” at Disney World, followed by three nights at a Universal Orlando hotel. If desired, I can click REQUEST ROOM to make a room request for each Disney World reservation. That button instead is EDIT REQUEST if a request already exists for the reservation.

What to Do with Existing Requests

If you had a Room Request configured previously, you do not need to take any action: it will be sent out on schedule, and you should see that reflected on your Dashboard.

If you have separate Trips for each hotel stay that’s part of the same vacation, that’s okay. Leaving those in place will not harm anything, and I recommend that you do that. If you really want to consolidate them, you could do that manually by editing and/or deleting old trips and creating new ones that include all your reservations and requests. But you may lose your Room Request information in the process. It’s easier to wait until the next time that you create a trip for a future vacation, at which time you can take advantage of the multi-destination, multi-reservation features.

Feedback

These changes were made with input from folks on the TouringPlans Forum, and we continue to welcome your thoughts. Feel free to leave comments here with with any feedback about these changes!
