Photo Tour of Magic Kingdom Construction
The Magic Kingdom is busy getting ready for a big summer if the the construction walls and scrims are any indication. Let’s start with Cinderella Castle.

There are now multiple cranes running during daylight hours at the Castle. The paint transformation appears to be full steam ahead with several painters working at once.

Look at the progress on the Fantasyland side of the Castle! We can’t wait to see what Happily Ever After looks like on this new shade of gray.

On to Liberty Square and the home of our favorite haunts. The scrim remains in place as the Haunted Mansion undergoes routine maintenance and upkeep.

The ride is still fully functional during this refurbishment and many of the exterior props, like Leota and pals, are still visible – just with walls.

According to Disney’s website, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is still on track to reopen this spring. The shot above shows the exterior of the ride from the PeopleMover. We’re excited for this one!

Big Thunder Mountain is still officially scheduled for a spring reopening according to Disney’s website, too. We’ve been stalking this view from the bridge over Tiana’s Bayou to see if we could spot trains or geyser testing, but no luck yet. We’ll keep an eye out.

Sir Mickey’s isn’t an official “construction” project, but we think it qualifies for this post. We stopped in a few days ago to get shots of the costume section for knights – spoiler, it has been reduced- and saw that the PhotoPass location has changed.

The PhotoPass studio at the back of Sir Mickey’s, which has been open to everyone for years, is now only for guests of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Guests of the Boutique are escorted over to the studio after their transformation inside the Castle. The sweet Minnie statue is now draped in a blue velvet dress. We were not allowed to take photographs (although we could see inside from the walkway) because we were not Boutique guests. We were told this puddled curtain is temporary.
We’ll report back soon with more pictures!

“I’m sorry, but you can’t take a picture of this thing unless you pay” is a nearly perfect encapsulation of Disney Parks these days.
