Tour of A Newly Refurbished Port Orleans French Quarter Room
The refurbishment at Port Orleans French Quarter is complete, and we recently checked out one of the newly refreshed rooms. Let’s see how they compare to the old rooms, and what features will make you fall in love with the new ones.
We stayed in Room 6343, on the 3rd floor of Building 6. This River View room sleeps 4, and we paid $339.75 for the night of 6/1/25. As usual, we were not compensated by Disney in any way.

You can find room views for every single Walt Disney World Resort on our website. Tap Walt Disney World, Hotels, Room Finder – or click this link!
The Old Rooms
Nothing will highlight the upgrades like looking at the old rooms. Here we have shots of a few older rooms from 2021 and 2024 before the refurbishment. Tap any image in the gallery below to zoom in.
While charming, the old rooms were dark, dated, and worn. We’re happy to report that the new rooms are the opposite. Let’s have a look around.
The New Rooms
The new paint, textiles, and furniture colors make the room so much brighter. You’ll be able to spot the change from the bathroom dividing curtain to the sliding door at the far end of the room. This keeps light out of the bedroom much better than the curtain managed. Excellent if you have folks who are trying to catch a few extra minutes of sleep.

Part of the testing that we do every single time we have a room stay includes checking the condition, date, make, and model of each mattress. As you can see from the picture, the mattresses in this room are Sealy Pillow Top Queens from 10/24/2024.
Back to the room tour… the addition of reading lights at the sides of each bed is a nice feature.

This dresser is a wonderful replacement for the old 4-drawer models. This dresser is 9 feet 8 inches long x 26 inches wide. There are 6 outlets, plus 2 USB-A and 2 USB-C ports on the top surround of the dresser. A mini fridge is tucked in next to the drawers, with a coffee station on top underneath shelves that can hold a few essentials.
Beyond the obvious things like cleaner walls and floors, we loved the added storage in the bedroom. The bathroom vanity area has more storage than in the old rooms, too.
This step stool that stores under the cabinet is the same feature we found in the new Fort Wilderness Cabins. We hope this addition continues with all refurbishments on property.
The tub and toilet are separated from the vanity area by a pocket door. In this room at least, the tub has been replaced by a walk-in shower.
Around the Resort
In case the new digs didn’t convince you to book a stay, here are a few other compelling reasons to consider this Moderate on your next visit. Here’s Doubloon Lagoon’s 51-foot-long serpent slide, Scales.
For those interested in water that’s only ankle deep, there’s the Doubloon Lagoon Water Play Area for guests 48″ or under.
Guests of Port Orleans French Quarter are also entitled to use the Ol’ Man Island pool complex at the neighboring Port Orleans Riverside Resort. You can take the walking path or the very popular Sassagoula Steamboat River Cruise. This is also our favorite way to get to Disney Springs. River Cruises to Disney Springs run from 10:00 am – 10:30 pm daily.
BEIGNETS! Scat Cat’s Club Café is open from 7:00am – 11:00pm and they serve the most delightful, Mickey-shaped confections on property. Get them with the Bailey’s Irish Cream if you’re really in a Mardi Gras mood.
This is the plate of 3 Beignets with 1 dipping sauce for $7.99 or one Disney Dining Plan Snack Credit. The extra sauce was $0.99 and worth the money! Walking around with powdered sugar smattering your face and clothing is a badge of honor here, so don’t fret when the sugar starts to fall.

Have you stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter since the refurbishment? What did you think of the new rooms?
