Several Stores and Restaurants to Close at Downtown Disney in the Disneyland Resort
A few months back, it was announced that a brand new resort would be built at the Disneyland Resort. With the addition of this new hotel though, it was also announced that there would need to be changes to the west end of the Downtown Disney District.
We finally have a clearer look at which restaurants and stores will be closing as part of this new hotel addition.
- AMC 12 Theatres
- Rainforest Cafe
- ESPN Zone
- Earl of Sandwich
- Alamo Rent-a-Car
- Starbucks (only the west side location)
- Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney Travel – will continue to operate in other resort locations
The last day for operation for many of these businesses will be June 30, though some may choose to close earlier than that date. Demolition of these areas will begin in July. It’s currently unknown if any of the businesses that are closing will reopen elsewhere either in the Disneyland Resort or somewhere in Anaheim.
This brand new Four Diamond hotel will be opening up in 2021.
Once again, Disney thinking about bringing in “tourist dollars.” Forget about their loyal locals who yearn for the traditional good old Disney days….long gone and never to return. Still weeding out the middle class guests by raising prices. Sick of them buying everything out and trying to incorporate it into Disney. Sorry, but Marvel and Star Wars is not Disneyland and I’m sick of it being so over down my throat. Overkill!! Whoever you are runnimg what once, used to be the happiest place on earth…..shame one you…..selfish and money hungry with a longing for power over everything.
NO!!! Not Earl of Sandwich!
I just hope there is a “DVC wing” for the new hotel! I welcome any expansion of the Disneyland resort.
Holy Cow, for a minute there I thought you were talking about something important like the Jazz Kitchen or something like that!
It is a shame about the Theater as I did get to go see Tomorrowland there and it had a really cool golden age of movies vibe going on in there. I hope they try to replicate that with the new theater.
Here’s hoping they can relocate Earl of Sandwich at some point. I haven’t eaten there but I heard they make a really good sandwich and looking forward to trying them sometime.
There’s always the Disney World location in Disney Springs
