Universal Translator – What is a TapuTapu?

The What-Now, What-Now? What are TapuTapu? Is it only at Volcano Bay? What can it do? We answer all of these and more in this Universal Translator.

TapuTapu is a free, wrist-worn device similar in size to a digital watch that is provided free of charge to Volcano Bay guests. TapuTapu acts as a replacement for your phone and wallet at the water park:

  • Ride Reservations: Guests enter a Virtual Line using the Tapu for rides and slides. When the return time arrives, the Tapu vibrates.
  • Access Lockers: Open lockers using your Tapu Tapu instead of a ticket or fingerprint.
  • Purchasing: When synched to a Universal Orlando account with an attached credit card, the TapuTapu acts as a payment option for purchasing in the park.
  • Interactive Effects: Hold your TapuTapu next to the wave icons throughout the parks to activate special effects, water streams, and more.

TapuTapu is provided to guests at arrival and must be returned at the end of the visit; if you leave the park for a hotel break you must return the TapuTapu and lose ride reservations.
