10 Questions You May Have About Onboard Gifts

Disney Cruise Line has a selection of gifts you can order before you sail. They’re a fun way to surprise someone or celebrate yourself! Here are some answers to questions you may have about them.

1. Where can I see the options? – On Disneycruise.com, under the “Already Booked” tab, you’ll see Onboard Gifts. Login to your reservation to see all the options. You can browse without logging in, but you won’t see everything available for your sailing. If your reservation number is already linked to your account, it may auto-populate, and you won’t need anything. If not, have your reservation number and last name ready.

2. Do I pay immediately? – You do. These are not charged to your onboard account; you’ll pay at the time you order.

3. Can I just put money on an account? – Yes! If you would rather not select something, or maybe you just want to prepay for some activities or purchases onboard, you can add an onboard credit to a stateroom online in the Onboard Gifts section. You choose the amount.

4. What kinds of gifts can I order? – There are typically around 100 options available on every sailing. There are things like stateroom decorations, cakes, fruit, flowers, souvenirs, and stateroom décor. There are also alcohol and water packages. I’ve found the robes in the Romance packages to be delightful! If you’re a Cloudem fan (mesmerizing nonalcoholic sparkling cider), onboard a DCL ship is one of the only ways to get it. I sometimes order a few bottles before sailing to take home with me for parties.

5. Are the same options available onboard? – Many are not, so if you see something you like, don’t count on getting it onboard. Some things, like water packages, are available onboard, but may cost more. Other things, like ship speakers and in-room décor, are only available to preorder and are not sold on the ships.

6. Does the selection vary by ship or itinerary? – It does! Somewhat. There are some things you will see available on every sailing. Others, however, will vary. If you are sailing out of Europe or Singapore, for example, your selection will be different than a Port Canaveral or Fort Lauderdale sailing, where Disney has their usuals readily available. If you are on a themed sailing, like Halloween on the High Seas, you will find exclusive options, many of which will not be available to purchase onboard.

7. When do I get them? – Most things, like water bottles, in-room décor, and souvenirs, will be waiting for you in your stateroom when you get on board. There are others, like cakes, cupcakes, and alcohol, that you can pick when and where you would like them to be delivered. You can pick a particular day, and whether you would like it in your room or in a dining room.

8. How early do I need to order? – For many items, you must order at least three days before you sail, but there are some that will need to be ordered even earlier. Once you are logged in, you can usually see an order by date next to some items. In addition, there are some things, like itinerary-specific options, that will sell out. Don’t count on it being there forever. If you want it, get it!

9. What happens if I cancel or change my mind? – If you cancel your sailing, your onboard gift purchases will be automatically refunded. If you change your mind on something, most things can be canceled if you do it early enough. Check the terms and conditions for the specific item you are purchasing.

10. Can someone not in my room send a gift to me? – They can! If they have your login information, they can browse specific gifts, but they can also add an onboard credit to your stateroom without your login or reservation number. When you login, you’ll see a box at the top of the page that you can click and generate a link to send to someone. It’s great for honeymoons or other celebrations!
