Disney Dish Podcast 148: Who Thought Minnie Mouse Madonna Was A Good Idea?

Disney Dish episode 148In the latest episode of the Disney Dish Podcast with Jim Hill Media. Len and Jim talk about the glory days of the 80s when MTV was still relevant and still played music.

To appeal to a younger, hipper generation, Disney produced a TV special called Totally Minnie. Not only was it Minnie’s first starring role, but the supporting cast included Suzanne Somers, Vanna White, and (somehow) Elton John.

TV critics were merciless, calling it “excruciating” and that “it would need work to even qualify as a disaster.”

Who thought this was a good idea, and how did it happen? Grab your jelly bracelets and lace gloves, and take a listen as Jim gives us the details.

Disney Dish is available through all fine podcast apps. You can also support the podcast and get longer episodes at DisneyDish.bandcamp.com. • Oooh, I am looking forward to listening to this episode. I had the Totally Minnie special on tape when I was younger and my sister and I watched it over and over again.
