New Salt & Straw Ice Cream Shop Announced for Downtown Disney at Disneyland

More changes have been announced for the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort! A brand new ice cream shop called Salt & Straw will be opening later this year.

Salt & Straw is a family-run ice cream company from Tyler and Kim Malek. It is known for having imaginative ice cream flavors and every flavor is handmade in small batches using the best local, organic and sustainable ingredients. Making things more unique will be special seasonal offerings that will be cultivated courtesy of partnerships with local farmers and artisans.

This is apparently not their first partnership with the Walt Disney Company. Back in 2017, they created a special limited-edition flavor and contest in celebration of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

As mentioned, the addition of Salt & Straw is a part of the ongoing, promenade-wide transformation at Downtown Disney District. Other venues that have recently been announced are Ballast Point, Black Top Craft Burgers, and the recently opened Splitsville. In addition a few shops and restaurants have been announced that they will be closing too.

Construction on Salt & Straw is scheduled to begin soon.

  • Missing from the original DPB post, but confirmed down in the comments, is that this is replacing the existing Haagen-Dazs location.

Shouldn’t be TOO much construction needed to replace an ice cream shop with an ice cream shop :-).

  • This is awesome news. I LOVE Salt and Straw ice cream. I hope they continue the practice of offering patrons as many samples as they want while they queue. It’s so fun to try the different flavors…pear and blue cheese was a favorite of mine. (Although I end up ordering something a little more “traditional”)
