8 Things to Pack for Your Next Disney Cruise
Packing for a Disney Cruise can be exciting but it can also be a bit daunting. Here are a few things we always make sure we have when headed out to sea:

- Detergent pods and dryer sheets – Spills or a kid who only likes to wear two shirts in rotation may have you seeking out the laundry rooms on a Disney Cruise. A few pods in a plastic container and a couple of dryer sheets in a plastic bag won’t take up much room in your suitcase & may come in handy. Need more info? Erin Foster covers DCL laundry services (and just about everything else DCL) in several editions of The Unofficial Guide to DCL and right here on our blog.
- Magnets for your stateroom door – undecorated stateroom doors look the same and a recognizable magnet may come in handy after a few cocktails at dinner.
- Dish soap and a few sponges or dish cloths – if you’re bringing your own reusable water bottles or cups onboard, and you should, you’ll want to wash them at some point. Keep the sponges in a plastic sandwich bag & grab a sturdy but small container for the soap. We use a dressing squeeze bottle that can be found just about anywhere.
- Magnetic hooks – These 150lb magnetic hooks are so useful! We always have a couple in our bag since they can be used to hang up hats, tote bags for Castaway or other ports, wet clothes, and just about anything you don’t want taking up valuable storage space. There are many options online but the hooks we have are from Amazon and run $9.99 for a 4-pack.
- Clorox Wipes – well, because germs.
- Cash for tips – Even if you pre-pay tips when you book your Disney Cruise, you’ll still need a few dollars cash on you for various reasons. If you’re taking ground transportation from your Disney Resort to the port, you’ll want to tip your driver. You may want to tip your Stateroom Host above the minimum tip, too. There will be many instances of “above and beyond” service on your Disney Cruise that will make you glad you brought a stash of extra tip cash.
- Tummy meds – Hopefully, you’ll take the opportunity to try lots of new foods on your next Disney Cruise. Sometimes that means you’ll discover a love of something you otherwise wouldn’t have tried. Other times it may end in a troubled stomach. Disney Cruise Line merch locations DO NOT sell common stomach remedies. How do we know? Let’s just say we discovered our daily soft serve cone limit. We no longer board a ship without a rainbow of over the counter stomach meds.
- Plastic bags – Wet bathing suits, snacks, important things you want to keep dry and clean in your beach bag- you’ll find tons of uses for them.
What did we forget? Let us know what’s on your packing list?
