Haunted Mansion Bar Coming to the Disney Treasure
Would you like some spirits with your spirits? Because we know where they are going to be at … the Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure! The world’s first Haunted Mansion-inspired bar will be launching with the ship in 2024. Here’s everything we know right now, including recipes for some of the Parlor’s drinks that will be served on board.
Themed Decor
There are no mansions at sea, but there are drawing rooms. The Haunted Mansion parlor will be designed to resemble the first-class drawing room of a golden-age cruise liner. Imagineers will draw on Haunted Mansions from Disney parks around the world to evoke the attraction’s look and feel on board. And yes, that includes the iconic wallpaper.
Visit the Parlor to join in on a “swinging wake unlike any other”. Whom will you be swinging with? According to Disney it’s a jovial captain who transitioned to the ghostly realm after an unfortunate dinner with his fiancée. Perhaps it was the salmon mousse?
The Haunted Mansion Parlor will feature a ghostly aquarium that was one of Rolly Crump’s original ideas that never made it out of the vault and into one of the attractions. On the Treasure, the aquarium will become part of the backstory of the sea captain owner. A fishy oral tradition of the Captain’s crew tells how he was last seen heading to the parlor for this meal; but all that remained of the lovers afterward was his hat, found floating in the aquarium tank.
Who is this mysterious fiancée? Why, none other than a gift from the sea, the lone survivor of a shipwreck discovered when the Captain answered a distress call from another vessel. Described as having bright green eyes, chestnut hair, and a golden key hanging around her neck, she was a beauty who rapidly caught the Captain’s eye – and his heart.
The Parlor’s haunts will materialize in a portrait gallery for your perusal, and will include both legendary characters from the attraction and some all-new faces. Disney Cruise Line has released a sizzle reel on Instagram, and also a few teasers such as the portraits of the Mariner (whose photo hangs on the walls at Disney World and Tokyo Disney Resort) and the fiancée, inspired by Marc Davis’ “cat lady” concept.
Disney hasn’t specified where the Haunted Mansion Parlor will be located on board the Treasure. But we expect it’s likely to be in the same space as the Hyperspace Lounge on the Treasure’s sister ship, the Disney Wish.
Exclusive Onboard Merchandise
You can take home a memento of your visit to the Haunted Parlor with exclusive shipboard merchandise. Consume your libations from exclusive commemorative mugs inspired by The Mariner and the Captain’s bride. Each mug will appear to be carved from the worn planks of a ghost ship.
The Haunted Mansion Parlor Music Box is inspired by one found inside the Haunted Mansion Parlor. The backstory goes that it belonged to the captain’s bride-to-be and only opens when malevolent spirits are present. The Parlor Clock glows with otherworldly energy. And hitchhiking ghosts (or should that be stowaway ghosts?) mysteriously appear in the frame of the Haunted Mansion Parlor Mirror.
Libation Lineup
We don’t know yet whether the Haunted Mansion Parlor will offer something similar to the famous $5,000 drink served up in the Hyperspace Lounge. But we’ve received some sympathetic vibrations with details of drinks that are definitely accessible to mere mortals. So accessible that Disney provided the recipes, and we’ve got them below! We’ve written them out in case you’re working from your phone, but you can tap the hyperlinked name of any drink for Disney’s printable recipe card.
