Der Teddybär: Steiff Disney Plush in the Germany Pavilion
Der Teddybär in the Germany Pavilion of the World Showcase is an excellent spot to grab a very high-quality souvenir during your next visit to EPCOT. Even better if you happen to be an Annual Passholder because you’ll save 20% on these pricy plush pals.
Steiff has long been recognized as producing the first teddy bear plush dolls with movable arms and legs sold in the United States, more than 120 years ago. And they’ve partnered with Disney since 1931! The yellow tag is a cue that you’re going to pay more than a standard stuffie at Target, but it also represents more than a century of craftsmanship and quality.
Mickey & Teddy in the duo above have been the stars of this location for years. Both have their left ears pierced with the proud Steiff button. Beyond the outstanding quality, silky soft nap of the fur, and invisible stitching Steiff is known for, this Mickey cannot be purchased on the Steiff website and is a park exclusive. We can also confirm that the $79.99 price tag (before AP discount!) hasn’t changed in at least 6 years.
Disney Steiff pals are located on the shelves to the right just as you enter under the iconic Der Teddybär sign in the center of the Germany pavilion. Mickey and Minnie are always well stocked, but the Hundred Acre Wood pals seem to sell out with some regularity. Tigger and Eeyore are 12″ tall and $39.99 before AP discount. Pooh is 11″ tall and is also $39.99.
Dumbo sits at 12″ tall and has an earspan of 12″, too. His Steiff tag is placed in the center of his left ear, and he will cost you $39.99 to take home.
There are dozens of non-Disney friends to choose from, too. This classic teddy is $32.99 before the 20% AP discount. You’ll also find an array of zoo and mythical creatures, and a sizable shelf of “Baby’s First” plush critters that are designed to be safe for newborns and toddlers.
What do you think of these Steiff friends? Many of them are in the range of an average pair of ears. Which do you think makes the best souvenir?
