It’s the dog days of summer, but don’t tell that to Universal as they have announced the closure of Animal Actors: On Location! at Universal Studios Florida on November 2, 2026.

An original opening day attraction, Animal Actors is a fan favorite show featuring dozens of cats, dogs, birds, pigs, otters, and porcupines showing how animals perform in the movies safely. From Universal Orlando:

Animal Actors On Location! show at Universal Studios Florida will permanently close on November 2 to make way for a new experience. The show has been a part of Universal Studios Florida since the park’s opening, and we are grateful for the countless memorable moments it has provided our guests over the years. More details about the future development of the space will be shared at a later time.

Animal Actors saw several variants on the show, including a show that heavily featured the Animal Planet cable channel. But as audience demands and the general public opinions on performing animals in theme park shows change, so must Universal. At this time there is no information on a replacement for the show, some speculate it could host seasonal shows or become part of a DreamWorks Land expansion.

That’s a shame. They were all rescue animals and undoubtedly loved by their trainers and caretakers and could have wound up in worse situations had the Universal team not taken them in.
