Ask It: Land and Sea or Sea and Land?
With the relative proximity of Walt Disney World to Port Canaveral, it isn’t surprising that some people enjoy doing a combination vacation of a Disney Cruise and a Walt Disney World resort vacation. Some people say that it is better to do the land part of the trip to Walt Disney World before the cruise, and others say it is best to take the cruise and then go to Walt Disney World. Here’s this week’s Ask It:
When doing a Disney Cruise/Walt Disney World combination vacation, do you prefer to do Land then Sea or Sea then Land?
- Land then Sea (63%, 268 Votes)
- Sea then Land (25%, 106 Votes)
- No preference (12%, 51 Votes)

While you are treated well at WDW, to me the care and attention on a Disney Cruise is AMAZING!! I think I would find it more difficult to truly appreciate WDW for what it is after leaving a Disney Cruise as opposed to going before. Also, the options to relax are more for us on a cruise so it’s a great place to relax after busy days and nights in the parks.
We were advised repeatedly cruise first was terrible idea… FOOLS! it was great! Coming from west coast we enjoyed a short relaxing cruise and eased into the time change. Then by time we were ready for WDW, we were well rested and getting off the ship wasn’t sad nor did we have to stress flight times. Off to the parks! But then again – we don’t do punishing pace at WDW we relax and enjoy the details. I say it doesn’t matter at ALL – it’s Disney cruise + wdw! I’ll take whatever I can get.
I’ve done 2 Disney cruises. We did Universal before the 1st one and WDW after. We did WDW before the 2nd one and Universal and WDW after. We like to keep our vacations going as long as possible!
I love following the busy-ness of a WDW vacation with a relaxing cruise. Of course I loved it when we rented a car at the port, drove to WDW and had lunch at Whispering Canyon before we got on the plane! So, Land – Sea – tiny bit of Land and then home!
