California Grill Reopens Soon!
We’ve been talking about California Grill for months, with a previous look at what the restaurant will look like when it’s all done, as well as some of the dessert options that it will be serving up. We now have official word, thanks to the Disney Parks Blog, of when the famous restaurant that is situated on top of the Contemporary Resort is expected to open.
The re-imagined, sleek restaurant with fabulous views will reopen on Monday, September 9, 2013.
Along with the new decor, the restaurant has gotten some menu updates. Guests will still be able to enjoy the flatbreads the restaurant is famous for, but they will now also be able to dine on baked prawns with charred lemon and savory meatballs served with herbed orzo, squash ravioli, an heirloom tomato salad, Pacific halibut, and diver sea scallops. If you’ve been missing your raw fish, don’t worry, the always popular sushi is back. The redo of the sushi menu now includes an omakase menu that will feature twelve different courses with no set menu – the chef will prepare special dishes each night.
Disney hasn’t forgotten about the adult beverages. Here, guests can choose from 250 options of wine and signature cocktails that will not be be found anywhere else.
New additions for the restaurant include carpet designs inspired by Imagineer Mary Blair, a wine display for the lobby, two communal tables seating ten, and two outdoor areas (situated on both the north and south sides) to view those incredible Magic Kingdom fireworks.
For those who are looking to dine here, you’ll be able to start booking your reservations starting on August 26 by calling (407) WDW-DINE or visiting www.disneyworld.com/dine.
Also, according to the reservation site for california grill, if you dine before the fireworks, you can keep your receipt and come back later to view the fireworks from the designated area.
Does the California Grill take the Dining Plan? Also if we wanted to go to see the fireworks what time should we request a table for?
California Grill is a Signature Dining experience on the dining plan. Try to book a table 60-90 minutes before Wishes if you wish to view the fireworks from the restaurant. Not all tables are window-side but diners often leave their tables during the meal to visit the observation deck if they wish.
Yummy! We’re staying at the Contemporary in September with our young children. Does anyone know if my hubby and I could get carry out from CA Grill? Mary
