He’s the Leader of the Club AND the Band!

If you’re planning a visit to the Magic Kingdom soon, you may be in for a surprise!

The Main Street Philharmonic has been joined by Drum Major Mickey recently, and we caught him this afternoon in the Magic Kingdom. The fantastic musicians are so special all on their own, crowds gather as soon as they start to play in front of Cinderella Castle.

Band Leader Mickey comes out about halfway through their performance, so if you hear the band starting up, we suggest a hustle to the hub to catch them.

Mickey’s appearance isn’t listed on Disney’s website or the My Disney Experience app, but it has been a regular treat recently. While it hasn’t been confirmed, we think the timing is enough to say it may be part of the surprise and delight character appearances we have been seeing around the park recently.

You can find appearance times for the Main Street Philharmonic on the app. They have four appearances most days.

It’s shaping up to be a busy summer in the Magic Kingdom! Buzz Lightyear is already in previews and our team is loving the changes, but there are still lots of construction walls, cranes, and work in progress around the park. A surprise character sighting may take some of the sting out of paying to visit a park that is less than perfect right now.

Band Leader Mickey doesn’t sign autographs or pose for pictures for this performance. You can still meet Mickey at Town Square Theater where you can get lots of hugs and PhotoPass pictures.
