With a Disney Believe reveal scheduled for October, I wasn’t sure how much cruise news we would get at the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday night! But we got some good information.

First off, we now know the Grand Hall statue for Disney Believe! Moana fans rejoice – we have a Moana-themed Grand Hall/atrium!  Moana herself will anchor the Grand Hall, providing the perfect photo opp. This Grand Hall should be absolutely gorgeous.  My Take – I am a big Moana fan, and as they proved in the Moana show on the Disney Treasure, I think Disney can do a lot with the water theme!

We also got stern characters! I’ve always seen the stern characters as the playful side of Disney Cruise Line theming. Rapunzel isn’t just attached to the side; her hair is artfully arranged above her while she and Pascal paint the scroll artwork on the Wish. Peter Pan paints the artwork on the stern of the Treasure while an angry, paint-covered Captain Hook watches from a porthole. The Believe will feature Buzz and Woody drawing with crayons. My Take – I actually guessed this one, and I’m somewhat surprised I did! I picked it both because of the Pixar references in the preview videos and because I thought it would be absolutely adorable. Concept art is proving me right. It’s both clever and fun!

We also have a bow character. Tinkerbell will take the spot of Minnie on the other three Wish-class ships!

That’s it on the Believe! I’m sure we can expect the rest during the October reveal.

Disney has been stingy with details on the new class of ships, which will begin sailing in 2029. The main information up to this point has been the size. The new, as-yet-unnamed class will be sized between the Magic class (2700 guests) and Dream class (4000 guests) with around 3000 guests. That in and of itself is pretty exciting news for those who like smaller ships. Well, Saturday night we got a first look at the concept art, and it’s not exactly the same exterior as the others! There appears to be a break in the lifeboats in the center of Deck 4 with a wall of windows of the atrium. My Take – Pretty excited for something different!

How do you feel about these announcements? Are you excited? Disappointed?

  • The open atrium is exciting and gives people an opportunity to see more outside of the ship, which can matter when you visit more unique ports. Other lines have experimented with a similar concept.
I also noticed that the walking track slants up towards the front – probably in an effort to mitigate the complaints about stairs.
The ship also blends the classic ships with the wish class. There is the tell tale bump out in the middle for example.
Very excited about the ship. Will be disappointed in the price.

    • I love the open atrium! It would be perfect for Alaska.
I’m sure they’ve heard a lot about the lack of a full walking deck on the Wish class, so hopefully they’ll change that.
You’re absolutely right about the blending!
