Disney in a Minute: What is Arribas Brothers?
We’re here with a series of quick posts, “Disney in a Minute,” bite-sized nuggets of information that can better help you understand a Disney term or planning topic. Enjoy!
If you’ve ever seen a glassware display at Walt Disney World, you’ve likely been in an Arribas Brothers store. These shops offer a wide range of drinkware, decorative objects, crystal figurines, jewelry, ornaments, and other gifts. Many of the Arribas offerings can be personalized, giving you an opportunity to bring home a souvenir that is unique to your family.
Prices range from a few dollars for small items, up to $40,000+ for a giant Swarovski-encrusted Cinderella castle and more than twice that for a hand-blown glass castle.
You can find Arribas Brothers locations at Walt Disney World, including:
- Disney Springs, in the Marketplace area near the Basin store
- Magic Kingdom, on the right side of Main Street as you face the castle
- Magic Kingdom, kiosk near the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction
- EPCOT, Mexico pavilion
- EPCOT, Germany pavilion
Additional Arribas Brothers shops can be found at Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland.
The Arribas Brothers’ history with Disney dates back to 1967, when Walt Disney himself invited brothers Tomas and Alfonso Arribas to demonstrate their glass blowing skills at Disneyland. Their artistry so impressed visitors that they were invited to open a permanent store, marking the beginning of a lasting partnership. Visitors can often watch artisans at work – there are live glass blowing demonstrations at many of the shops – adding an educational element to the shopping experience.
If you’re worried about transporting glassware home in your luggage, speak to a sales person at any of the Arribas shops. They can arrange to have your purchases mailed to your home. In my experience, their packing is top-notch, with everything arriving in perfect shape.
