Disney in a Minute: What is the Behind the Seeds Tour?
We’re here with a series of quick posts, “Disney in a Minute,” bite-sized nuggets of information that can better help you understand a Disney term or planning topic. Enjoy!
Behind the Seeds is a backstage tour that allows guests an inside look at the EPCOT’s Living with the Land attraction. There are two components of the tour: time in the behind-the-scenes labs and time walking through the Living with the Land attraction itself. Both parts of the tour are lead by scientists who work at Land pavilion. They focus on science of the Land, including hydroponics and pesticide-free pest control. The language on the tour is geared toward folks with a casual interest, but the scientists will be happy to answer any more in-depth questions you might have.
This one of the few backstage tours that allow young children to participate, ages three and up are welcome, making it a good choice for families who want a first try at a backstage experience.
The Behind the Seeds tour last approximately one hour, with five to seven tours happening every day. You can make reservations up to 60 days in advance via the My Disney Experience app, or check for walk-up availability at the check-in desk located near the entrance to the Soarin’ attraction. The tour costs about $45 for adults and about $35 for children. Discounts may be available for annual pass holders and DVC members.
My family loved this tour but at this price point I would recommend the Caring for Giants instead. Up close with the elephants and some behind the scenes things as well.
I loved it, and if you have a kid of any age who’s a science nerd, chances are high they will love it too.
