Disney Princesses at Bath and Body Works: The New H2O?

Once upon a time, after a long day of rope-dropping, park-hopping, and power-walking between FastPass booths, you’d get back to your Disney resort, collapse in your hotel room, and reach for one of those familiar bottles of H2O bath products. The scent of Blushing Orange or Grapefruit Bergamot instantly made everything feel more Disney. And if you were so inclined, a visit to the resort store would find full-size bottles for sale to take home, ensuring that you would never run out.

That era ended in 2023 when H2O officially discontinued its product line. At first, it seemed a catastrophe, but then came the news that Disney had reached some arrangement to continue the products. And while Disney resort rooms now feature the same H2O formulas as before – without the branding – those little bottles of shampoo and lotion that many of us totally didn’t hoard in our suitcases are gone for good, along with their full-size siblings from the gift shops.

But now, Bath & Body Works has entered the chat. In February 2025, they released six new Disney Princess-inspired fragrances. It immediately got us wondering—do any of them recapture that old-school H2O magic? More importantly, are they worth adding to your shopping cart to help keep Disney scent memories alive? Well, you know we had to try them out and see. We bought a bottle of body cream in each of the six scents to compare to a few stashed bottles of H2O that we still had available.

Meet the Six Disney Princess Scents

Bath & Body Works’ new line includes scents inspired by six princesses:

  • Ariel: “Have courage to explore new worlds and be resilient” – Sea salt breeze, golden citrus, and coral waters
  • Belle: “Dare to be different, confident, and comfortable being yourself” – Rose petals, sparkling buttercup, and whipped vanilla
  • Cinderella: “Never give up, and treat everyone with respect” – Gardenia petals, enchanting musk, and sapphire blue amber
  • Jasmine: “Define your own path and stand up for what’s right” – Sparkling jasmine flower, jeweled currants, and soft woods
  • Moana: “Bold and strong-willed spirit” – Lush green palms, plumeria breeze, and coconut water
  • Tiana: “Drive and focus to make a dream real” – Water lily, gilded amber, and shimmering bayou woods

First impressions: on the whole, each Bath & Body Works Disney Princess scent is definitely distinct from the others. And as someone who tends to shy away from strong scents, I was pleasantly surprised that they weren’t as in-your-face as I was originally expecting. I don’t really know what the personality traits have to do with the scents chosen, but I could see how each scent profile tied back to the princess that inspired it. So how do they compare to the classic H2O scents?

The Nostalgia Factor: How Do They Compare to H2O+?

Let’s be clear: Bath & Body Works is aiming for princess vibes, not resort nostalgia. But if you’re looking for something that brings back the scent memories of a Disney vacation, here’s how I think they stack up.

  • Ariel’s “Under the Sea” vs. H2O Sea Marine – The original H2O Sea Marine scent was crisp, aquatic, and fresh. Ariel’s scent, with its “sea salt breeze” leans more tropical than oceanic. However, if you’ve ever walked into Flight of Passage and been hit by a wall of familiar scent, or smelled the Fiji scene in Soarin’, “Under the Seae” will instantly transport you back to those attractions. It’s a near-perfect match.
  • Cinderella’s “Dreams Come True” vs. H2O Grapefruit Bergamot – This is the closest match between a Bath & Body Works Disney Princess scent and an H2O scent. H2O’s Grapefruit Bergamot was citrusy and bright, and Cinderella’s blend of gardenia petals and musk has a similar sparkling freshness. If you miss the zesty energy of this particular scent of H2O, this one might be your best bet.
  • Jasmine’s “A Whole New World” vs. H2O Blushing Orange – If you ever loved the softer floral scents of H2O, Jasmine’s mix of jasmine and sandalwood is in the same family. It’s not identical, but it’s a nice alternative if you miss the more sophisticated H2O options. Personally, this one reminds me of the Yacht Club lobby, perhaps because of its woody tones.

Bath and Body Works Princess Scents that are Unique

  • Moana’s Scent and Disney’s Riviera Resort – Although it doesn’t have an exact H2O match, if you’re a fan of Disney’s Riviera Resort, this one is worth a purchase. It smells remarkably similar to the fragrances found throughout that resort, making it a great choice for those who love that refined, beachy elegance.
  • Belle’s Scent – While this option didn’t remind anyone in our family of a specific Disney location or memory, it is the lightest scent of the bunch. If you’re strong-scent-averse but you’re interested in trying something from this line, it’s the one you should go with.
  • Tiana’s Scent – I was really hoping this one would smell similar to either Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or Port Orleans French Quarter. But I even packed this one along for a recent French Quarter stay, and couldn’t match the scent to anything around property.

Are They Worth It?

If you’re looking for a straight-up replacement for H2O travel-size products, you won’t find it here. But if you want something fun to bring a little extra Disney magic to your routine at home, these might be worth exploring. As someone who gets transported back to special Disney places and memories just by scent, I know I’ll be going back for more Ariel and Moana products.

They’re available in a variety of forms, including body sprays, shower gels, and lotions, so you can mix and match based on how much scent you like to wear. For this article, we purchased all “body creams” which are much thicker and feel less greasy than the old H2O lotion options. My family has been using them during the harsh Midwest winter to keep our skin acting more like it’s in sunny Florida and less like it’s in icy St. Louis.

Touring Plans shopper-in-training has been using Moana on at least a daily basis.

Final Thoughts

Bath & Body Works’ Disney Princess scents aren’t a one-to-one replacement for the beloved H2O products, but they do offer a fun new way to add a little extra Disney magic to your day. Whether you’re missing those resort-room toiletries or just looking for a way to bring some Disney energy into your everyday life, there’s probably a scent in this collection for you.

So, while we may never get the classic H2O scents back, at least we have another way to bring a little Disney nostalgia into our daily routines. And hey, if you did hoard a stash of H2O products before they disappeared, you might want to start rationing them—because once they’re gone, they’re really gone!
