How to Set Wait Time Alerts at Halloween Horror Nights

There are 10 Haunted Houses at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando this year and some of the wait times top 75 minutes! We tracked wait times for all 10 houses earlier this week ~ you can see them here.

Did you know that the Universal FL app allows you to set Wait Time Alerts for Haunted Houses this year? Here is how it works:

First, you’ll need to download the Universal FL app. This is a great idea even if you’re headed to Universal but not staying for Halloween Horror Nights because wait time alerts work for standard attractions, too.

When you open the app, the first graphic on your screen will be the Halloween Horror Nights Event Map, as shown in the shot below.

Select the map and scroll through to see all of the open attractions and 10 Haunted Houses.

You can have multiple wait time alerts set at one time. Tap on the image for the house you’re interested in, and the full description will appear ~ like the image on the far left below. Select the blue bell titled “Wait Time Alerts” and the middle image will appear letting you set your preferred time. The app will send you an alert when / if the house reaches or goes lower than your selected time. For example, we set our alert for Ozzy Osborne: Prince of Darkness house at 30 minutes.

Once you have selected your time, make sure you tap “Set Alert” at the bottom right of the screen. You’ll know your wait time alert is set when you go back out to the main page and the blue bell has a ringing icon.

As long as your notifications are enabled on your phone, you’ll get wait time alerts even when your phone is locked. We got a wait time alert for the Stranger Things house when our preferred time of 15 minutes was posted.

This tool is especially helpful when rain is expected during Halloween Horror Nights. All of the Scare Zone actors head offstage when there is bad weather and the wait times for Haunted Houses jump. The wait time alert can help you decide when to pivot to take advantage of shorter lines.
