New Info About The California Grill Refurbishment
As a reminder, the California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be going down for a lengthy refurbishment starting tomorrow, February 1.
When the space reopens, it will be completely refreshed, featuring tones of grays, whites, and light wood, with sporadic pops of color. The space will also feature a wall of wines and of course, those views aren’t going anywhere. Guests will still be able to dine with the Magic Kingdom in the background.

In addition to the newly updated design, the menu will also be seeing a bit of a revamp. For those who love the sushi, new sushi options will be available like the spicy kaza roll with tuna, shrimp, and scallops with tempura and fireball sauce. Another new version of sushi will be the sea urchin nigiri with soybean paper, salmon roe, and grated wasabi root.
Guests will also get to dine on a 24 hour braised beef short rib served with natural jus, as well as truffle mashed potatoes and a puff pastry with roasted vegetables. Another option will be Pork Two Ways with wood fired tenderloin along with goat cheese polenta and braised pork belly served with country applesauce.
The restaurant is expected to reopen this summer.

Any word on when it will reopen? I think I read something somewhere about November. I plan to be at WDW 9/29-10/6.
I know I saw they are taking reservations for November (I believe) however there is no opening date announced quite yet.
Really looking forward to dinning at the refurbished California Grill, I hope they still retain the ‘Wine Room’ which was always a little oasis from the noisier main dinning area. I should point out that the ‘Spicy kaza roll with tuna, shrimp, and scallops with tempura and fireball sauce’ is not a new addition however, in fact it’s a favourite dish of ours whenever we visit. It’s a fantastic dish and I would go there to eat that dish alone.
Looks great and long overdue. Over the last several years California Grill had lost it’s charm. What was once one of the nicer restaurants had become a nightly playground. I believe in taking the kids to high-end restaurants, but they shouldn’t act like they are at a Chucky Cheese. When they are eating at the bar and in the lounge and playing throughout the restaurant…it changes the ambiance a bit.
