New Restaurant To Be Added To Morocco Pavilion Waterfront

Disney

This doesn’t seem like an April Fool’s joke…

Today, after many months of speculation and rumors, Disney officially announced that a brand new waterfront restaurant is coming to the Morocco Pavilion at World Showcase. It is expected to have both indoor and outdoor seating.

The restaurant, called Spice Table Road, will feature small plates and refreshments that are all inspired by Mediterranean cuisine.

This dining location is expected to be open by the end of 2013. More details will be shared as they are announced!

That is very interesting news. ‘Small plates?’ I’m curious to see the menu and prices when it opens.

How is the Illuminations viewing from the Moroccan Pavilion? I wonder how much this will take away from watching without having to get a table.

I doubt that you will be able to get a table to view Illuminations- Morocco does not participate in that

There’s something curious about this announcement. The “word on the street” was that WDW was looking to add more “water’s-edge” dining because they could command a premium price for Illuminations viewing. But if this location is going to be open by the end of 2013, it’s probably not a full-service restaurant. Those don’t get built in eight months at WDW.

So I wonder if this may be a multi-stage project, with a larger part of the restaurant opening later.

Now, that’s the kind of corporate Disney thinking I’m talking about. It is a smart way to make money off Illuminations. I just hope that it doesn’t take away too much ‘free’ space for those that don’t want to pay.

“Small plates” sounds like Spansih tapas to me. It’ll be interesting to see how they manage to work that under the dining plan.
