Oidos al Mundo- Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios (antes llamado Disney MGM Studios) abrió sus puertas el 1 de Mayo de 1989. Dedicado al mundo de las películas, televisión y radio este parque ha pasado por muchos cambios y expansiones. Al principio este parque se utilizó para hacer varias películas y programas de televisión , las ultimas películas animadas que fueron hechas parcial o totalmente en el Estudio del parque fueron Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, y Brother Bear. Desafortunadamente ahora es más parque temático que estudio de producción.

Los auriculares del Oído al Mundo se pueden rentar en Guest Relations ubicado cerca de la entrada a mano izquierda y las atracciones que utilizan este servicio dentro de Disney’s Hollywood Studios son: Walt Disney’s: One Man’s Dream, presentación preliminar de The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Muppet Vision 3D, The Great Movie Ride, y The Magic of Disney Animation. Al entrar a Guest Relations cuando pedí rentar los auriculares, lo primero que me dijo el Cast Member es que hay pocas atracciones en donde los traductores funcionan y lo pude comprobar cuando fui a cada una de las atracciones en la lista anterior.

The Great Movie Ride es un viaje a través de películas clásicas de Hollywood, los auriculares empezaron la traducción tarde, lo cual implica que mientras nuestro guía iba hablando de una escena estábamos en otra. Lo otro que noté es que el servicio traduce lo que dice el guía pero no lo que dicen los audio animatronics. Durante la escena en donde el Gangster va a robarse nuestro vehiculo se entiende lo que él dice pero no lo que le responden las figuras. A pesar de esto si usted no entiende Ingles el traductor lo va a ayudar a disfrutar esta atracción aunque a veces no este bien sincronizado.

Disney’s: One Man’s Dream es un museo dedicado al hombre que creó la magia, Walt Disney. El traductor ofrece una breve historia por las partes principales de esta exhibición pero no traduce la película de 15 minutos narrada por Julie Andrews al final de esta área. Ésta es una instancia en donde el traductor no funciona como es debido.

Las demás atracciones de la lista anterior funciono el traductor perfectamente.

De las atracciones que no ofrecen el servicio hay varias que es necesario entender ingles para disfrutarlas al máximo. Disney Jr.-Live on Stage es un show enfocado a niños de edad preescolar y muestran a personajes de Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sofia The First, Doc McStuffins, y Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Cada parte tiene una pequeña historia y sin entender ingles se pierde todo el punto de esta atracción. Me imagino que la compañía pensó que niños tan pequeños no se dejarían auriculares durante este show y por eso no lo ofrecen.

Star Tours- The Adventures Continue es un viaje a través de diferentes escenas del mundo de la Guerra de las Galaxias, cada viaje es al azar teniendo 54 posibles combinaciones y por esto es que me imagino no ofrece el servicio. Pero las personas que aman las películas no tendrán ningún problema de disfrutar esta atracción ya que no hay mucho dialogo.

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! y Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show son dos espectáculos que muestran como se hacen películas de aventura y acción. Entre cada escena que muestran hay un director que habla de cómo realizan las acrobacias y toda la parte técnica de las películas de acción. Para las personas que no entiendan ingles estas partes serán aburridas pero las partes de acción son buenas y todavía pienso que pueden disfrutar de ambos espectáculos.

Una atracción nueva es The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow y lo llaman una aventura inmersiva al mundo de las películas de Piratas. Considero que es necesario tener el servicio porque es completamente hablada y hay partes donde el esqueleto le pide a la audiencia que haga ciertas cosas. Quizás en un futuro ofrecerán el servicio,

Por ultimo está Studio Backlot Tour, es un tour de 35 minutos que muestran diferentes áreas de vestuario, carpintería y accesorios que se usan en películas. No entiendo porque el servicio no es ofrecido aquí ya que es una grabación y el tour es completamente narrado. Sin embargo puedo decir que todavía podría disfrutar de esta atracción ya que tiene muchos elementos visuales y es una buena forma de descansar por 35 minutos.

Del resto de las atracciones no creo que es necesario tener el traductor, Voyage of the Little Mermaid y Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage son dos espectáculos musicales que muestran la historia de ambas películas a través de música y baile.

I have noticed that some of you have taken an interest in these articles. My main focus is people who don’t speak English and the things that Walt Disney World offers to make their experiences more magical. So, from now on, I’m going to offer the English translation of each article.

Ears to The World- Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney MGM Studios) opened its door on May 1st 1989. Dedicated to the world of movies, television and radio this park has experienced many changes and expansions. At first this park was used to make several movies and tv shows, the last animated movies to be partially or totally made at the Studios were Mulan, Lilo & Stitch and Brother Bear. Unfortunately now it’s more theme park than production studio.

The headphones for Ears to the World can be rented at Guest Relations, located close to the main entrance on your left hand side and the attractions that offer this service at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are: Walt Disney’s: One Man’s Dream, pre-show to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Muppet Vision 3D, The Great Movie Ride and The Magic of Disney Animation.

When I entered Guest Relations and asked to rent the headphone the Cast Member told me that a few of the attractions are malfunctioning in regards to this service and I corroborated this statement as I went to each of them.

The Great Movie Ride is a trip through classic Hollywood Movies, the translation on the headphones started late so while our Guide was talking about one scene the translation was talking about another. The other thing I noticed was they only translated what the Guide says but not what the Audio Animatronics were saying. In the Gangster scene, when Mugsy is hijacking our vehicle you could understand what he said but not what the animatronics were saying. Nevertheless the service helps to understand the vast majority of this attraction even though sometimes it’s not in synch.

Disney’s: One Man’s Dream is a museum style area dedicated to the man who created the magic, Walt Disney. The translator gives a brief history in the mayor parts of the exhibits but didn’t translate the actual 15 minute movie narrated by Julie Andrews. I believe this is one of those areas that the Cast Member told me that what malfunctioning.

On the rest of the attractions listed the translator worked perfectly.

Of the attractions that don’t offer the service there are a few that is necessary to understand English to enjoy them fully. Disney Jr. Live on Stage is a show focused on pre-school aged kids and show characters from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Each section has a story, and if you don’t understand English the whole show goes over your head. I imagine that the reason why the translator service is not offered is because they think that little kids won’t keep the headphones on.

Star Tours- The Adventures Continue is a trip through different scenes from the world of Star Wars, each trip is random and has 54 different possibilities and this is why, I imagine, the service is not offered. But for people who love Star Wars they will have no problem enjoying this attraction because the dialogue parts are not heavy.

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! And Lights, Motor, Action! Extreme Stunt Show are two shows that focus on how adventure and action movies are made. In between each action scene a Director will come out and explain how they do the different stunts and all the technical parts. For people who don’t understand English these parts may be boring but the action parts are worth it and I think you would still enjoy both shows.

A new attraction is The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow and they call it an immersive adventure into the world of Pirates. I think the service is needed in this one since it’s heavy on script and the pirate skull asks the audience to do several things during the show. Maybe in the future they will offer the translation service.

And the last one is Studio Backlot Tour, this is a 35 minute tour through the costuming, building and props department. I don’t understand why the service is not offered since it’s a recording and the tour has a constant script. But I still think you would enjoy it because it has a lot of visual elements and it’s a good way to relax for 35 minutes.

I believe the rest of the attractions don’t need the service, Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage are both musical shows that offer the story through song and dance.
