Ten Apps You May Want for Your Disney Cruise

While it’s great to completely disconnect on vacation, odds are you’ll have your smartphone on board. If you do, I’ve got some suggestions for apps that may make traveling easier!

1. Disney Cruise Line Navigator – You’re going to need the Navigator app onboard. It will give you your dining rotation, your booked activities, available activities, and more. Make sure you have the most updated version in the morning before you board.

2. WhatsApp – WhatsApp is a private messaging app that works onboard, without purchasing an internet plan. It’s a great way to keep in touch with people both onboard and off. iMessage also works, but isn’t quite as reliable, and apparently not everyone has iPhones. Who knew? WhatsApp is also very popular in many countries. We’ve had a few different private excursion operators in Europe ask us to download it so they could message us.

3. Flight Aware – If you’re flying in for your cruise, I highly recommend Flight Aware to monitor your flight status. Flight Aware will track your specific aircraft and let you know if it’s actually on its way.

4. Airline Apps – If you’re flying, you will also want to download your airline’s app. Many of them have free movies and entertainment that you can watch in flight. You’ll also want it if delays or cancellations happen, so you can be quick to rebook or adjust.

5. Chorus Sleep – Staterooms and ships can be noisy at times, so a noisemaker app like this one may help drown out the noise and help you sleep.

6. City Mapper – If you’re navigating on your own in a city you’re not familiar with, whether in a port or during pre- or post-cruise stays, this app can help get you from place to place. It will give you walking directions, subway instructions, and more. It contains information from major cities around the world.

7. Marine Traffic – This one is strictly for fun! Marine Traffic will let you look up where any ship is around the world, as well as see what’s around it. No more squinting at other cruise ships, wondering what they are. Pull up your app and see for yourself. Amaze your friends with your knowledge!

8. My Currency Converter – When you’re shopping in ports, it’s always nice to know what you’re actually paying for that King Charles bobblehead. Here’s an app to help!

9. Rideshare Apps – Rideshare apps are used around the world, and are always helpful to have to get you from point A to point B. Uber is used in many parts of the world, but I recommend a quick Google search before leaving home to see if your destination uses it. If not, see what they use. Singapore uses Grab, and I used it frequently on our trip last month.

10. TripIt – TripIt can aggregate all of your trip details into one app. If you give it permission to search your email, it will automatically populate, otherwise you can upload travel documents, flight information, etc. It will also send flight alerts and even let you know if the price of your flight drops.
