While Rivers of Light may not be debuting now on Earth Day (April 22) there is still going to be a party for Guests to experience at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Party for the Planet, which is presented this year by Disneynature, will celebrate and encourage Guests to connect with nature by participating in exciting and engaging activities.

Guests will be able to learn about the world around them, enjoy special food offerings (I smell cupcakes), purchase unique merchandise, and even meet a rare character. Each land in the park will feature a unique activity to help celebrate.

In the Oasis, Guests can uncover little known facts about animals featured in the live action version of “The Jungle Book.” Also, in celebration of the film’s release, Guests can take photos of “The Jungle Book” sand sculpture through April 24.

Over in Discovery Island, Guests are invited to discover the size of their environmental footprint and learn some new ways you can make it smaller to protect our planet. Guests will also be able to meet Imagineer Joe Rohde. Joe will be at Discovery Trading Company from 1:00 p.m – 2:00 p.m. signing original art and the new Disney Conservation Fund book. A wristband is required to meet Joe Rohde.  A limited number of wristbands will be distributed at the time of art or book purchase at Discovery Trading Company on April 22. Wristbands are available while supplies last. In addition, Boiled Books will be selling stationery items stained with real plants and flowers (from April 20-24) and the Fairy House Ladies will sell fairy houses made from material found in nature (from April 21-24).

In Africa, play Simba Says. Guests can also enjoy Earth Day inspired pineapple treats at Zuri’s Sweets Shop. Finally, vendors will be outside Mombasa Marketplace – Jortra Boutique will be selling jewelry made from cantaloupe seeds, coffee beans, and orange peels (April 20-24) and Just Plumerias will sell Plumeria Cuttings (April 20-24).

At Rafiki’s Planet Watch Guests can see how you would measure up to a bird your size. You will also be able to meet Jiminy Cricket from April 17-23.

In the Asia section, with Leap for Wildlife, Guests can show enthusiasm for conservation and discover the lengths you can go to protect wildlife and wild places.

Finally, in DinoLand U.S.A., Guests will be able to use their imaginations and help survey the prehistoric on a top-secret mission.

Of course, as I mentioned, there will also be a special cupcake available for Guests to purchase and enjoy. Guests can pick up a cupcake filled with chocolate mousse and then topped with buttercream dipped in Oreo crumbs, a chocolate flowerpot and gummy worms at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery in the Africa section and at Isle of Java and Creature Comforts on Discovery Island.

It looks like a fun day is still in store for those visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom on April 22.
