Disney Clarifies What You Can and Cannot Wear at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
One of the most asked questions surrounding Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge what can I wear while visiting the planet of Batuu. I mean, you are supposed to be living out your Star Wars dreams in this new land, right? But while you can pick up a set full jedi robes in the land, the questions popped up of could you actually wear things like this in the park. Now, Disney has clarified what exactly it is that Guests can and cannot wear when visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
First and foremost, the official and current costume policy remains in effect in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. For those who are unaware, that policy states that costumes may not be worn by guests 14 years of age or older.
Now, for those visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disney Bounding, or in this case, Star Wars Bounding, will be permitted. This means that Guests will be allowed to piece together traditional clothing items that when worn together, serve as a recognizable tribute to Star Wars character. Guests will also be permitted to wear outfits that are inspired by the villagers of Batuu, like muted tones, vests, layers, etc.
So, what can’t you wear? Not permitted are robes or military-style attire, masks, face paint, elaborate headwear, blasters or holsters (lightsabers are allowed) or hard items such as body armor, helmets or kneepads. This means you need to leave your Stormtrooper suit at home. Other full character suits are also not allowed, so that means you can’t bring your Chewbacca costume with you.
As mentioned before, some of the items that are actually sold in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge cannot be worn inside the land. Keep this in mind when making these purchases.
While Disney is certainly encouraging Guests to live their Star Wars story, these limitations are very important to keep in mind. What do you think of these rules for visiting Batuu?
I am guessing that they would not allow me to wear my homemade Mandalorian armor?
We are going to galaxy’s edge in May and I just bought a Leia dress offline! I mean it’s basically just a baggy white dress. Is that bounding? Is the Leia wig bounding? Maybe I should braid my own hair? My two kids are going to be Rey and Vader and husband has a obi costume that looks like bounding if he didn’t wear the brown robe. What do you think? Worse case they make me change my white dress and take my braids out?
