Disney Cruise Line: In The News

New to cruising with Disney? All the terms, the nuances, and the ins and outs can be so overwhelming! Lucky for us, Tammy has taken her expertise from her (dozens and dozens and dozens) cruises and made a list of 100 important things to know before your first cruise!

Hopefully you’ve not reading this on an empty stomach…because Julia is teasing our tastebuds with 5 of the best appetizers across the fleet. Well, even if you are full, you may find yourself drooling over some of these delicious options!

Kudos to DCL, who earned the highest marks (and the only A) out of 16 cruise ships, after Friends of the Earth graded the ships on the environmental footprint they leave behind. Doing good all around!

Here’s this week’s special offers. Most every week of the year, Disney Cruise Line releases special offers for Florida Residents and U.S. Military Personnel.  There are also frequently IGT/OGT/VGT rates available for all guests to book.  These offers are extremely limited in availability, and all come with certain restrictions, but the prices are amazing! You can book these online, on the phone, or with your travel agent. These are the current offers available this week:

Upcoming Entertainment

The following films are being shown aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships this month:

  • Ralph Breaks the Internet
  • Mary Poppins Returns
  • Captain Marvel
  • Dumbo
  • Disneynature: Penguins
  • Avengers: Endgame
  • Aladdin
  • Toy Story 4

For future reference, films debut on Disney Cruise Line the same day of their initial release in the United States. Films do vary by ship. Show times are available in your Personal Navigator or the official Disney Cruise Line app.

Captain’s Log: Important Tips and Information

For me, today has been a busy day of packing – we head out to Vancouver tomorrow and then spend 9 glorious nights on the Wonder in Alaska! There’s one thing I absolutely swear by onboard that makes my packing process at home that much easier – the dry cleaning service. Seriously, I can’t tell you how much I look forward to this (it’s almost unhealthy). Since we are a family that enjoys the dressing up aspect of cruising, we always travel with dress pants, dress shirts, suits, and dresses. Packing these things is hands down the biggest pain! Until you discover onboard dry cleaning, that is. As I’m packing, I’ll divide my dress clothes into two piles – those that need cleaning, and those that only need pressing. As you may know, irons are not permitted in staterooms for safety reasons. While they are available to use in the laundry rooms, ironing is just about my absolute least favorite chore, and not one I want to do on vacation if I can absolutely avoid it. Cue the cleaning service – you can opt to have any of your clothes freshly pressed, for half the price to dry clean said item. For us, this is well worth adding into our anticipated budget for the time and the convenience!

While your mileage may vary, for us, the dry cleaning prices onboard are actually significantly cheaper than they are at our local dry cleaners. I’ve even been known to throw an extra dress or two in my suitcase that I know I may or may not wear, just to have it cleaned onboard. I have my cleaning pile packed in a laundry bag, so when our luggage is delivered to our stateroom I can get it out right away, and we are all clean and ready to go for the rest of the trip!

Have you ever used the dry cleaning services onboard? Do you think it’s a good value? Tell me in the comments!
