Ahoy, mateys! I’m Heather, and I’ll be bringing you the up and coming on all things Disney Cruise Line. Welcome back again this week. Let’s see what’s new in the DCL world!

Ports of Call

Disney Cruise Line: In The News

If you’re sailing on the Disney Magic between mid-April and mid-May, you may be bummed to hear that the renown show, Disney Dreams, will be dark during that time. The show will receive updates to select scenes, and will head back to the stage during the May 23, 2020 Mediterranean sailing.

So after doing away with the pre-cruise spiral booklets of the past, the people loudly spoke of their sadness over the lack of magical mail. DCL heard you. The spiral booklets are still retired, but now, a Welcome Aboard booklet will grace your mailbox approximately a week after you book your cruise.

Here’s this week’s special offers. Most every week of the year, Disney Cruise Line releases special offers for Florida Residents and U.S. Military Personnel.  There are also frequently IGT/OGT/VGT rates available for all guests to book.  These offers are extremely limited in availability, and all come with certain restrictions, but the prices are amazing! You can book these online, on the phone, or with your travel agent. These are the current offers available this week:

Upcoming Entertainment

The following films are being shown aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships this month:

  • Captain Marvel
  • Dumbo
  • Disneynature: Penguins
  • Avengers: Endgame
  • Aladdin
  • Toy Story 4
  • Lion King
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
  • Frozen 2

For future reference, films debut on Disney Cruise Line the same day of their initial release in the United States. Films do vary by ship. Show times are available in your Personal Navigator or the official Disney Cruise Line app.

Captain’s Log: Important Tips and Information

An update to the DCL Navigator app was released this week, and with it comes great news! Probably the best news since the previous release, which saw a massive (but much needed) overhaul of the app. You can now book a placeholder through the app! Woohoo!!! Here’s why this is great: because you should always book a placeholder. I repeat: always. book. a. placeholder. Even if you aren’t sure, book it! If you don’t use it within the 24 month travel period, you’ll get your $250 deposit back! You won’t regret a refund, but you will totally regret wanting to book another cruise and not getting the perks because silly ol’ you didn’t book a placeholder. There’s another reason it’s so great – you can book it sitting on your verandah, laying in your heavenly comfortable bed, sitting by the pool watching Funnel Vision…anywhere onboard! No more waiting in line at the Onboard booking desk. No filling out a card (that may or may not get lost in the shuffle…because this is a thing that has been known to happen).

So don’t forget to update your app before your next cruise, and happy placeholder booking!
