REVIEW – Don’t Overlook Sunshine Day Bar at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

There’s just something about Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that beckons guests to slow down. Sunshine Day Bar along Sunset Boulevard offers handcrafted cocktails that make relaxing in this area even better. Besides three signature drinks, a full bar is offered as well as a selection of beer and wine. Between Chrissy and myself we’ve tried each of the featured cocktails and we think this bar should not be missed.

• Blackberry Moonshine Lemonade – Old Smoky Blackberry Moonshine, Odwalla Lemonade, Lemon Juice, and Blackberry Syrup $14.00
• Southside Fizz – Hendrick’s Gin, Pure Cane Sugar, and Lemon Juice, topped with Soda Water $14.00
• Cherry Blossom – Bacardi Superior Rum, Luxardo Cherry Liqueur, Pineapple Juice, and Grenadine $13.00

Each cocktail is handmade as opposed to made in big batches ahead of time. This does mean there can be a slow-moving line at this walk-up bar, but if you want a thirst-quenching cocktail, it’s worth it. The mixers that are combined in each drink are well selected and make for a refreshing cocktail.

Chrissy tried the Cherry Blossom which she describes as a grown-up Shirley Temple. With pineapple juice it is on the sweet side but not overly so. And it certainly is a pretty cocktail too.

My husband went with the Blackberry Moonshine Lemonade. This is the one you want if you like sweet drinks. Still, with the lemonade and lemon juice it wasn’t so sweet that it was unbearable. I snuck a few sips and I would’ve been very happy with this drink if I had ordered it.

The call of gin could not be resisted. I went with the Southside Fizz. With Hendrick’s Gin (one of my favorites) and lemon, lime, and cane sugar, this drink is like a Gin and Tonic but with a little more flavor. The cane sugar was very subtle, just enough to mellow the citrus. I would absolutely order this again.

The beer selection varies. Sam Adams Seasonal, Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Beer, and Bud Light were on draft during our recent visit just a few days ago. As of right now Sunshine Day Bar is open daily 11:00 a.m. – park close. Hours are subject to change so if you’re strolling along Sunset Boulevard and see Sunshine Day Bar is open then don’t miss out.

The refreshing cocktails, beer selection, and the ability to have your own creation from the full bar, are a great asset. Plus, the service we experienced there on our visit was fantastic. Sunshine Day Bar will surely brighten your Disney day.
