What Is Moonlight Magic?
Moonlight Magic is a free event for Disney Vacation Club Members and their guests. The event offers

Moonlight Magic is similar to hard-ticket events such as Disney After Hours, or Disneyland After Dark. 2025 Moonlight Magic dates have been announced in 3 Disney World theme parks, Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and also at Disney California Adventure.
Newly Added 2024 Moonlight Magic Dates for Animal Kingdom
Guests may register for one of these 2024 Animal Kingdom dates even if they have previously attended a 2024 event. Changes to your reservation party size after September 15, 2024 will not increase your eligible party size for the event.

How to Register for Moonlight Magic
Registration is required, and guests with a Disney resort reservation on the date of the event will have access to an early registration period. We’ll update with reservation dates for 2025 as soon as we have information.
Eligibility for early registration has been changed this year and is a bit tricky. To qualify, you must make your reservation either by calling Member Services or through the Disney Vacation Club member page. This means that reservations made with points are generally eligible. However, the reservation must be made by a person listed as an Owner on the membership, so you cannot access this benefit by renting points. Previously, a regular cash reservation at a Disney resort hotel was sufficient, but now only cash reservations for Disney Vacation Club rooms booked through Member Services are eligible.
Guests with eligible resort reservations may receive a link in their email, and can also find a link on the event page. When registration opens, members will access the link to enter a virtual waiting room. When it is their turn, each member may register themselves and up to 4 guests, for a total party size of 5, or up to the number of guests on their resort reservation. Children up to three years of age don’t need to register.
In the past, the waiting room has filled quickly, so if you’re tapping in on registration day it’s best to be there right on time. You’ll be asked for your member number, so make sure you have it handy. The good news is that it doesn’t matter whether you arrive 5 minutes or 15 minutes before registration opens – all users who join the page shortly before registration begins will be placed into the queue in random order.
The member who registers must be in attendance at the party, so if you have multiple members in your family plan accordingly. Only members who are eligible for Membership Extras can register. Not sure if you qualify? You’ll need to set up MagicMobile to view your digital DVC Membership card; it must say DVC-Y on the back.
Disney has not yet confirmed event eligibility for 2025. However, in the past, it has generally been that only one event per park per year is available for each membership. So you could attend a Moonlight Magic event at EPCOT and also one at Animal Kingdom. But you couldn’t attend both Moonlight Magic dates at Hollywood Studios in 2025.

Early registration for the 1/26/25 Hollywood Studios Midnight Madness closed after roughly 55 minutes. To register, eligible DVC members could access a link to enroll at 11am EST. By accessing the link ahead of time, a screen appeared with a countdown clock which would be refreshed as soon as enrollment began at 11:00:00. At that time, a random queue number was assigned, regardless of how early a member accessed the link. Then the enrollee entered a Waiting Room Queue with an estimated time to access the Registration Form. I was given an “over one hour” advisory, which eventually began a minute-by-minute countdown when less than an hour remained. The initial estimate was longer than it actually took for me to leave the Waiting Room. Once you receive the Registration Form, fill it out quickly! I was on the last box of the last page when it greyed out, and a red-letter statement appeared announcing that registration was full. DO NOT assume that you’re safely registered until you hit the Submit button and receive a Confirmation number and e-mail.These events fill up FAST! At least, there is another chance to enroll when General Registration opens on 1/17/25.

In redating this post, you didn’t delete the dates that have already passed. It looks funny to see a post dated January 9, 2025 with 2024 dates included.
Thanks Tom. I’ve added the usual tag line at the bottom that has the note on the original publication date and the update date, hopefully that should help. With news like this, and especially since I know that the January HS date is so close and people have been looking for this, it’s not uncommon for us to drop everything and take a few minutes to get it out ASAP (including double-checking the dates we enter) and then come back for a second pass a bit later as time allows in order to get the i’s dotted and do one last check on the dates.
Is this information still up to date? I’m wondering about registration for the January 26th Hollywood Studios event. I haven’t received anything about early registration yet. Thanks.
I agree I am surprised that the dates have not been posted yet, but Disney’s page still says check back later. If they have given out dates, they have done it through email or some other targeted method.
One thing that changed this year is you will only get the early registration email if you have a qualifying reservation, and reservations booked through cash don’t qualify unless they were booked through DVC. If you have a regular hotel reservation, you will be part of the later group.
