New Doctor Strange Experience Debuts at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Were you someone who saw Doctor Strange in theaters this weekend? Do you love this new mystical character from the Marvel universe? If so, make sure to take a trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios where a brand new show has quietly debuted back near Toy Story Mania.
This new experience is sort of half similar to Jedi Training Academy/half similar to Enchanted Tales With Belle. During this show, young Guests are pulled from the audience by Doctor Strange himself, based upon those who he deems has the potential to become a great master of the mystical arts. The Guests then must attempt to perform spells, which will cause a couple of unique interactions to occur. When that spell portion has concluded, the kids will then be able to have their photo taken with Doctor Strange.
Showtimes for this new experience are currently at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
There is currently no official word on how long this show will be available, but it’s certainly a unique experience for the Doctor Strange fan in your family.

I loved the movie. I think it’s one of the very best MCU movies, up there with the first Iron Man and the first Avengers.
That said, I think this is kind of a doogly idea, for two reasons.
– I don’t like the idea of “face” characters from live-action movies (unless they wear masks). Princesses, Peter Pan, Aladdin? Sure, because their movie representations are animated, so the actor can look close enough. Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, Iron Man? Sure, because they have masks. But Doctor Strange? We just barely got used to Broderick Custardbath in the role, so we don’t need to swap in some rando in a goatee.
– It seems like an obvious copy of the wand-choosing ceremony at Ollivander’s at USF, with the attempted spellcasting and environmental effects.
But on the other other hand, it shows Disney is committing to the character, and since the movie was so good, I suppose this is a good thing on the balance.
Using face characters for just animated films is okay for now, but those animated films are going live action in the coming years. We already have live versions of Cinderella and the Tremaines, Alice, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty (with the Maleficent live action film) and Mowgli. Soon we will get Belle (and Gaston), Mulan, Cruella Devil, Snow White, and numerous others that will be adapted to live action. I wouldn’t throw away those character interactions just because the castmember’s face doesn’t match the movie actor’s.
On the definitely positive side, glad to see something Marvel in a Disneyworld park!
