Stop the Presses! – Disneyland Resort to Close Early on August 20, 2023

Disney has been closely following the forecasts for Hurricane Hilary. Probably none of us had “Disneyland closes for a hurricane” on our bingo cards this year, but it’s going to do exactly that. On Sunday, August 20, Disney California Adventure Park closing at 9 p.m. and Disneyland Park closing at 10 p.m. The Downtown Disney District will close at 11 p.m. Only the theme parks are closing: the resort hotels will remain open to serve guests staying with on property. Check back at Disneyland.com for more updates as the situation progresses.

Avengers Vault To Open mid-September at Disneyland

Disney is relocating its main merchandise mercantile for the Avengers. On September 14, 2023, the Super Store featuring Avengers Campus (which is actually in Hollywoodland) will close at Disney California Adventure. And in mid-September, the new Avengers Vault merchandise location will open. (Check me guys, how far from the 14th is mid-September?) As you might guess from the name and location (this one is in Avengers Campus), Avengers Vault will feature Avengers merchandise, including the Infinity Saga Relics pictured above.

Disney Treasure Details To Be Revealed Aug. 30

Are you ready for some Treasure? Are you able to sneak away from your desk and tune in at 11 a.m. Eastern on August 30? Then you’ll be able to watch the “grand virtual reveal” of the Disney Treasure on livestream. If you can’t make it, never fear; Disney posts these on Youtube once the livestream is done. For example, here’s the reveal from the Wish if you’d like to have an idea what to expect. If you’d like to watch live, check back on the Disney Parks blog post as they post the link in the coming days.

Mirabel Meet & Greet Details

Way back on June 26, Mirabel joined the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade in Magic Kingdom. Well, move over Mirabel, because it’s Bruno’s turn now. On September 15th, Bruno will be joining the Cavalcade … and Mirabel will be moving into her Casita in Fairytale Gardens for a full-fledged Meet & Greet. The Casita is located in the Fairytale Gardens space formerly occupied by Merida, who can now be found meeting in Liberty Square.

Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya Opening August 28

Disney has previously announced that Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya would be opening on August 30, but this week Advanced Dining Reservations became available as early as August 28. And it seems it has actually already soft-opened for walkups from noon to 9 p.m. daily. If you’re planning a trip, check out the newly released menus and see if there’s something that tempts your tastebuds.

Rogers the Musical Ending on August 31

Rogers the musical opened just a little while ago (June 30) in the Hyperion Theater at Disney California Adventure, and as the summer closes its run is coming to an end. The show’s last day is August 31. To be fair, that was the announced end date all along, but the show was generally well-received, which sometimes leads to a change in plans.

Tiana’s Palace Opening September 7

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure won’t be opening until 2024, but the new Quick Service restaurant Tiana’s Palace will be opening in just a couple of weeks on September 7. Tiana’s Palace will be opening in the spot in New Orleans Square formerly occupied by the French Market Restaurant. Menus are not yet available.
